My Rating: 4 stars

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Age Category: Adult

Blurb:
I promised to avenge my parents.

But their killer is still on the loose, and he’s stolen more than my parents’ lives. Now, as he draws closer to his mysterious goals, he’s poised to destroy what little I have left.

I promised to translate an ancient grimoire.

But it holds the secrets of my family–and the secret history of demon summoning. I fear its answers as much as I need them. Who was the foremother of Demonica…and who am I?

I promised to send my demon home.

But the way he watches me, the way he protects me, the way he touches me–how can I cast him away forever? I swore I would do this for him, but can I? Should I?

But I promised–and I will keep my promises even if they cost me my heart, my soul, and my life.

My Review

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Delivering Evil for Experts is the fourth and last book in the Demonized series. After finishing the Spellbound series a few weeks ago, I was excited to see how this series wrapped up. This was another great series ender and I liked how it wrapped things up. And how there were a few big revelations before the end as well.

While I like how this series and the Spellbound one got intertwined, I have to admit I found the start of this book a bit slow because of that. A lot of the big events/ scenes were ones I already read in the last Spellbound book from Tori’s point of view. As I read that only two weeks ago or so, that was all still fresh in my mind. So I found the first 25% a bit slow to get through. It was interesting to see things from Robin’s point of view, but I feel like I would’ve been able to appreciate that part more if I hadn’t just read the last Spellbound book recently. When the plot lines diverge I thought this book started to get really good. from that point onward I was eager to read more and see how things played out.

I liked seeing how Zylas and Robin’s romance developed. It was so awesome to see them grow even closer and how they resolved the issues in their path. It was one of my favorite parts of the book and even with their romance going on there’s still this doubt whether they will get their happy ending and how. All in all I am happy how things got resolved and it all felt realistic and in-character too.

I liked how this book had plenty of twists and reveals. Things get quite dire for the main characters and then that reveal about the demonica class and how it was created was pretty awesome. Xever is the big bad evil guy of this series and there are multiple battles and confrontations with him or his demon in this book. It was interesting to discover what he really was after all this time and how far he goes to achieve that. There are some pretty epic battles later in the book and I like how the action packed scenes got intertwined with some more character focused scenes.

I also liked seeing more of the side characters like Amalia, who such a great friend to Robin, even though she can be wrong on some occasions. I liked how all of that got resolved. And there are some other familiar faces of other side characters as well. While this series is all about Robin and Zylas, there is a great supporting cast as well.

The epilogue was awesome and very fitting for the characters. Although I do have some questions left and am very curious how their actions influence the world in the future in this series and I hope we get to see some of that in the other series.

To summarize: this was a great ending to this series. I like how there are some big reveals and twists in this one. There’s plenty of action as well as some pretty epic battles in this one. I like how things get wrapped up and the ending was awesome. I thought the start was a bit slow as there were some scenes I already read from Tori’s point of view in the last Spellbound book. My favorite part was seeing the romance between Robin and Zylas develop and how they grow closer in this book. There are some great side characters in this series as well. I am really happy with how this series got resolved and am happy there will be two more series in this universe.

  1. Love that it ended well even with the first quarter being a rehash. She sounds like a good heroine and their romance really was great especially since you weren’t for sure about the happy ending. I will get to these series of books eventually. 🙂

    • I think the first quarter wouldn’t have been an issue if I hadn’t read the other last book so recently, but now it felt a bit mush of a rehash for me.

I really like the heroine in this series, she’s a bit shy and a bookworm, but also really stand up for what she wants.

I hope you’ll enjoy this series if you give them a try 🙂

  2. I didn’t read them so close together so I didn’t notice the rehash so much. In fact, I may have to go back to Damned Souls to figure out some things. But I loved this. Robin and Zylas are so caring for each other. I hope we will see them in other of the Guild Codex series sometimes. Wonderful review!
