by Laura Greenwood

My Rating: 4 stars

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age Category: New Adult
Type of romance: MF

Blurb:
Jazz knows better than to let herself get too close to fire, even if she is a dragon shifter. When she gets assigned to fire duty for Bonfire Night, she knows she has to do something or her secret will be revealed.

Idris can’t stop thinking about the dragon he’s been paired with for the bonfire. The only problem is that he seems to have done something to make her want to avoid him, and he’s determined to find out what.

Can he help Jazz stay safe from the flames?

Bonfire Night For Flammable Dragons is a light-hearted dragon shifter academy m/f romance set at Obscure Academy. It is Jazz and Idris’ complete story.

My Review

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

I enjoyed Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines and was excited to read another story in the Obscure Academy series. Bonfire Night for Flammable Dragons takes place around the holiday Bonfire night (which I never heard about before, so that was fun!) and features a flammable dragon as main character and the dragon she falls for. This was a short and sweet romantic read and I enjoyed reading it.

Jazz is a dragon who can catch fire and can’t breathe fire either. Just like with Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines I thought it was fun to read about a paranormal creature who isn’t what you expect from it. Jazz gets assigned to tend the fire on bonfire night and due to her flammable-ness she does her best to get out of this assignment, but Idris thinks he did something wrong and that’s why she doesn’t want to tend to the fire together. When he confronts her they get to talking and I liked seeing them grow closer.

The romance was sweet and I liked how accepting Idris was about Jazz and didn’t bat an eye about her being flammable. I liked the scene where she explained things to him and how accepting he was. I thought they made for a great couple and I liked seeing them grow closer as they work together for bonfire night. There’s a sweet epilogue as well.

I liked that we got to see a few of the cheerleader characters from Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines, but there only short appearances and you can easily read this story as a standalone. I enjoyed seeing Grace and Krissi in this book and how they encourage Jazz.

To summarize: This was a sweet and short romantic paranormal read set in the Obscure Academy series. I enjoyed reading about Jazz, who unlike most dragons is flammable and can catch on fire. She tires to avoid bonfire duty and meets Idris as part of that. I liked seeing them grow closer. I loved how accepting Idris is of Jazz. It was fun to see them work together and grow closer and there’s a nice epilogue too. I definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a fun paranormal romance series.
