Log cabins are supposed to be full of inspiring stories, not bloody bones.

When Paisley Sutton gets the chance to salvage from her first antique log cabin, she is ecstatic, until she finds the body of a murdered man in the back room. When she and her friends begin to look into who he is and why he’s dead, they uncover a heap of stories no one in town wants them to know.

Will the truth set them free or get them killed?

My Review

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Blood and Back Stitches is the seventh book in this series. This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. Every time I get a new book I am excited to dive in. This series is so good and I love the mix of great mysteries, the historical and salvaging aspects and the daily life of Paisley. I can’t recommend this series enough.

Blood and Back Stitches has a great mystery. This book had some interesting twists and turns. There is a dead body, a kidnapped woman and more. There are some coincidences, which clearly aren’t coincidences that all contribute to the mystery. It took a long time before the complete picture emerged, but I like how it felt that every chapter got the characters closer to the truth. There are multiple aspects to this mystery and there is some danger for Paisley as well. I really enjoyed seeing this mystery play out.

Besides the mystery we see more of Paisley as well. Her son is starting school, her romance with the sheriff is going well, her business is doing well and she has a new salvage job. She dives into the history and past of the characters involved to understand more of the past and connections between familiar. Then there are the family and friends she has around her and it’s just such a joy to read about Paisley and her life.

To summarize: This was another great read! I enjoyed following this mystery and seeing how things play out. There are plenty of twists and turns and multiple mystery threads involved. It felt like each chapter got us closer to the whole truth and it was exciting seeing the mystery play out. There is some danger as well. I also liked reading about Paisley’s daily life, seeing her interact with her son and her boyfriend. She also has some great family and friends around her and it’s just so fun to read about her. I look forward to the next book!
