Read-Play-Blog-2

Read Play Blog is a meme about video games and books, posted every 16th of the month. Bloggers are encouraged to answer a discussion question, and recommend a video game that is similar to a book they liked. Hosted by Happy Indulgence Books & Read Me Away.

Question: What is on your gaming wishlist?

I decided to view this questions quite literally and take a look at my wishlist on steam. Here are the 5 games that are the top of my wishlist:

  • Rollers of the Realm Rollers of the Realm by Atlus is a game that combines pinball with RPG. It sounds like a fun and original game which earned a place on my wishlist as soon as I came across it on steam.

  • Tropico 5 I have played Tropico 4 and really enjoyed it, so I eventually would like to try out Tropico 5 by Kalypso Media as well. I really enjoy Tropico 4 so far even though I haven’t finished the game yet, it features a variety of levels with different objectives and a fun soundtrack. It does get a bit repetitive if you play too long after each other and it can really eat your time, but once in a while I just get the urge to pick up the game again.

  • Folk Tale Folk Tale by Games Foundry had my attention when I saw the logo and kept it when I read the description. It’s a fantasy city builder! I love city building games and combined with fantays elements it should make a great game! And take a look at those graphics, it looks great and has that medieval fantasy city feel. Unfortunately it’s quite pricey, but I have high hopes for the steam winter sale.

  • Never Alone Never Alone by E-Line Media is also a game which cover picture caught my attention. It looks eery, wintery and fun. The grpahics give the game a very unique feel and I love the fact that you can play this game alone or with a friend (one plays the girl, the other the wolf!).

  • Final Fantasy VIII I have played a few FF games, but not yet Final Fantasy VIII by Sqaure Enix and as soon as I noticed it was on steam I added it to my wishlist, where it has been ever since. I enjoyed the Final Fantasy games I played so far, so I have high hopes for this game. The graphics might not be the best, but I am sure the story and gameplay will make more the up for it.

So those are the games on the top of my gaming wishlist, the steam winter sale has probably started by now and I hope to grab a few of these games!

Recommendation

My recommendation this month is Minecraft. Minecraft has something for every gamer, it has adventure, the building aspect and even battles. The world is made of blocks. It certainly would make a good present for any gamer in your life, if they don’t alreayd own this game ofcourse.

Currently Playing

I am currently playing Robocraft. It’s a fun and free multiplayer game. Basically you make a robot and you fight against other robot and try to capture their base, you win of you capture their base or destroy all robots of the enemy team. I often play it with my boyfriend and there’s aplatoon option so you can play together in games. I like the robot building part the most, it does take quite soem tiem before you get into a higher level and build a better robot. They made it fun to get to the higher levels, by making some weapons or part exclusive for higher level bots. If you like gaming I would recommend giving it a try!

So that’s it for this month’s Read Play Blog post :).

    • I agree the graphics for Never Alone look stunning and I love the fact it’s a two player game. I would recommend just picking a game and starting, see what kind of genres you like and which not. Just like with books, it can take a while to figure out.

  1. I haven’t had much time to play video games lately, so I’m still stuck in the middle of Bioshock and probably won’t have time to finish it soon, too. Sometimes I want to kick school in the ass, man. *weeps* But you’ve got some pretty cool-looking games on your wishlist! I really like the graphics for Never Alone — it kinda reminds me of Limbo, for some reason (that game was so creepy but so good!).

Haha, Minecraft! I got back into it when my younger cousin came over to stay for the holidays. It’s definitely a lot of fun being able to create your own world and buildings! And so addictive too. O_O The only time I feel like stopping is when I start getting too dizzy from the turning arounds.

    • I don’t have as much time to game lately, or if I game then I have less or no time to read. I’ve heard of Limbo, but never played it. I really hope I can get Never Alone when steam is doing a sale again.

I agree Minecraft is really addictive, I only play it when I have lots of time as I know I want to play it a lot as soon as I get into it again.

  2. Oooo, Never Alone looks SOOO pretty! Perfect for those who want snow but can’t get it – yes, I’m looking at Hawaii…

I’ve been out of the gaming world lately. I don’t have wifi at my house anymore, so that sucks majorly! Then again, there’s also school.

On Minecraft, I’ve seen it and heard about it, but I never found it appealing enough to play around with.

    • We don’t get a lot of snow here either and usually I find it more fun to look at snow then actually be surrounded by it. Snow levels or scenes in games are usually some of my favourites.

I don’t game a lot either, maybe a few hours a week if I skip my reading time a few days. I still enjoy doing these Read Play Blog posts though.

I never really got the whole minecraft hype either, until my boyfriend let me play on his account once and I was hooked. You can create everything and I like the freedom.

  3. Good old Minecraft, I remember purchasing it but getting scared away when everyone got super addicted lol! There’s some obscure games in here but I have played FF8, I don’t think I ever finished it though because I’m a completionist and I needed to get this super rare final weapon for Rinoa that was like impossible πŸ˜›

    • There’s a reason Minecraft got so popular as it’s a really good and addictive game. I really enjoy the Final Fantasy games I played so far and FF8 sounds like it’s a good one as well. I usually don’t mind not 100% completing the game as long as I manage to finish the story.

    • I agree! It sounded so unique I just know have to get it eventually. Steam always has a winter sale each year, so I hope to grab it for a nice discount then. I haven’t gamed as much as I want to recently, but it’s always a choice between gamign and reading and there’s only so little time in a day.

  4. I have tried to play Minecraft several times. I just can’t get into that one at all. I don’t know what it is either. I usually get into the big games but that one just doesn’t hold my attention very long. Never Alone is the game that looks good to me on your list. I am going to go and look for that one!

    • I like the freedom and the build what you want aspect from minecraft, although usually you spent more time actually gathering the materials then building. I agree Never Alone looks really good!

    • The steam sales are just amazing as almost every game has a discount and you can get some amazing games for cheap prizes, my boyfriend got skyrim for me for only 3 euro’s this sale. I am still hoping for higher dicounts, so I am probably going to wait until the last few days before buying anything.

    • I didn’t got any of these games durign the sale weirdly enough, although my boyfriend did buy Skyrim for me. The grpahics of Never Alone look so pretty!

My boyfriend is currently playing Minecraft, so I hope to play it soon as well. It’s such a fun and addictive game.
