MyTBRList

My To-Be Read List is a meme hosted by Because Reading is Better Than Real Life where at the beginning of the month visitors can choose which book I’ll be reading this month. On the first saturday of a month the poll will be up, then on the second saturday of the month I’ll announce the book that won and on the last saturday of the month I’ll post my review of the book.

For this month I decided to go with a sort of random theme. I picked three second books in the series for this month’s poll. And three different genres.

JaceJace (River Pack Wolves #2)
by Alisa Woods

Blurb:
His wolf is out of control. She’s a wild thing that won’t be tamed.
Ex-Army Specialist Jace River has a lock on his bedroom door, but it’s not to keep anyone out; it’s to keep his nightmares from breaking loose. His wolf is an out-of-control killer, which means he can never risk shifting, never truly be part of his pack, and definitely never take a mate.

Piper Wilding works for the Army as a civilian, traveling the world for her work in counterintelligence and fighting the bad guys while bedding down the good ones. The best part? It keeps her far from her asshole father in Seattle, the rest of the Wilding pack, and the pressure to take a mate. Settling down isn’t her thing, and after what happened to her mother, Piper vowed she would never be tied down by magic or men again.

While Jace’s wolf keeps him Sleepless in Seattle, Piper returns home to find her missing kid brother. When she breaks into the River brothers’ safehouse, sparks fly and claws come out. Her sexy skills threaten to bring out Jace’s wolf, and Jace’s good-guy hotness reminds Piper how tempting shifter men can be. They’re like fire and gasoline, and as they race to find Piper’s brother, the heat threatens to burn down all their carefully constructed walls. But falling in love has never been so dangerous—and being together means taking risks that neither might survive.

Conditional Probability of AttractionConditional Probability of Attraction (The Outlier Prophecies #2)
by Tina Gower

Blurb:
The course of true love doesn’t run smoothly when your predicted soul mate is already dead.

Kate Hale isn’t excited to end her first month as an investigative actuary in Accidental Death Predications on probation. So, when her boss farms her out as a consultant to a private Love Predictions company to “give her a break,” Kate fears that her days at her dream job are numbered.

But the new case offers an interesting puzzle. Hundreds of customers hoping for the names of their true loves have been mistakenly paired with the recently deceased. It’s Kate’s chance to prove she can solve the unsolvable, but her client is more interested in preventing the problem from reoccurring than uncovering the mystery.

At least her new case doesn’t require Ian Becker’s assistance. She’s not interested in his type of rogue investigative work and the trouble it brings. When he’s not breaking and entering or ignoring procedure, he insists on discussing their unresolved private matter after she volunteered to be his temporary pack mate.

Except Becker manages to bring the trouble right to her doorstep anyway.

Murder at the MansionMurder at the Mansion (A Kelly Jackson Mystery #2)
by Janet Finsilver

Blurb:
Fortunes, fineries, and foul play . . .

It’s whale-watching season in Redwood Cove, and B&B manager Kelly Jackson’s battening down the hatches for the tourist rush at Redwood Heights—a Victorian-style estate owned by her boss. And due to recent jewelry thefts, her duties include keeping track of the many dust-covered artifacts spread throughout the property. But when Kelly finds Sylvia Porter’s lifeless body, menial tasks don’t seem so terrible. Enlisting the help of a ragtag group of brainy retirees, aka the “Silver Sentinels,” Kelly’s on the hunt for clues hidden behind the mansion’s glamorous façade. . .and for a killer who may want to make history of her next!

Now it’s time to vote!

    • Last time I checked book 1 was free on all vendor sites, so you can even check it out for free. I thought it was a good start of the series and I am looking forward to reading book 2.

    • The first book in that series had a great mystery with an awesome plot twist, so that sets the bar high for this one, but I am eager to return to this series.

  1. I love this meme, having people vote on what to read. I should do it… but I’m afraid to give up the control ha ha! What if I didn’t like the pick??Anyway on to yours… I voted for Conditional Probability of Attraction (wow that’s a mouthful) because it sounds different and fun. Although from a cozy standpoint I’m sure Murder at the Mansion might be good too.

    • I am a control freak, so I know the feeling, but it helps that you pick the three options. And worst case scenario and you don’t like the book that won, you can always read another one. I’ve had that happen a few times were I reviewed another book. I hope you join in the meme once, it’s a lot of fun hearing what other people think you should read and why.

I agree the title for Conditional Probability of Attraction is a mouthful, the first book was a good one, so I am looking forward to continuing the series. And I love how the author combines statistics with urban fantasy. The first book in that cozy series was really good and I really want to read the sequel soon to see if it’s just as good.

  2. I voted for the probability one since I know how much you’re enjoying that series! I’m with Greg though, I could never let people choose my book for me. It’d be one of those things where you ask someone to choose, and then you just ignore them and end up choosing the other one. That’s undoubtedly what I’d end up doing lol.

    • There are always people who voted for the other book who will be happy you read that one. I try not to worry about it too much and usually I pick 3 books that I all want to read badly and usually don’t care too much which one I read first.
I am looking forward to read the probability book as I hope it’s one of those series that gets even better as they progress.

    • Yes I sure went with 3 very different books this month. I enjoyed the first books in all these series, so I hope the sequels are just as good.

    • Thanks! I thought it was a fun idea for a poll to pick sequels :). I am really looking forward to continue that series as the first one was really good.

  3. Ani

I am interested in all of these! So I had to eenie-meenie-minie-moe my selection… although, to be honest, I AM rather more interested in Jace. Although the cozy sounds interesting too… Well, hope you enjoy whichever one wins anyway! 😛

    • All the first books in this series were great, so I am looking forward to read the sequels. At the moment it looks like Jace is going to win :).
