MyTBRList

My To-Be Read List is a meme hosted by Because Reading is Better Than Real Life where at the beginning of the month visitors can choose which book I’ll be reading this month. On the first saturday of a month the poll will be up, then on the second saturday of the month I’ll announce the book that won and on the last saturday of the month I’ll post my review of the book.

This month I go again with the cozy mystery genre, all three are cozy mysteries, books I got for review through netgalley and books I read on my ipad. One is a first book in a series, one a second book in a series and one a thrid book in a series.

In the debut of a delightful cozy mystery series, Sarah Fox introduces a charming new heroine who finds herself in a sticky situation: stacking pancakes, pouring coffee, and investigating murder.

When Marley McKinney’s aging cousin, Jimmy, is hospitalized with pneumonia, she agrees to help run his pancake house while he recovers. With its rustic interior and syrupy scent, the Flip Side Pancake House is just as she pictured it—and the surly chef is a wizard with crêpes. Marley expects to spend a leisurely week or two in Wildwood Cove, the quaint, coastal community where she used to spend her summers, but then Cousin Jimmy is found murdered, sprawled on the rocks beneath a nearby cliff.

After she stumbles across evidence of stolen goods in Jimmy’s workshop, Marley is determined to find out what’s really going on in the not-so-quiet town of Wildwood Cove. With help from her childhood crush and her adopted cat, Flapjack, Marley sinks her teeth into the investigation. But if she’s not careful, she’s going to get burned by a killer who’s only interested in serving up trouble.

But when Kelly finds Sylvia Porter’s lifeless body, menial tasks don’t seem so terrible. Enlisting the help of a ragtag group of brainy retirees, aka the “Silver Sentinels,” Kelly’s on the hunt for clues hidden behind the mansion’s glamorous façade. . .and for a killer who may want to make history of her next!

Blurb:
When a treasure hunt leads to deadly plunder, it’s up to glass shop owner Savannah Webb and her trusty investigative posse to map out the true motives of a killer . . .

It’s the dog days of summer in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Webb’s Glass Shop proprietor Savannah Webb has an eco-friendly plan to help locals escape the heat–a recyclable bottle-crafting workshop taught by reticent store manager Amanda Blake. Turns out, the class is a bigger smash than expected, thanks in part to a pair of staggeringly old bottles brought in by snorkeler Martin Lane . . .

Linked to a storied pirate shipwreck, the relics definitely pique Savannah’s interest. But intrigue turns to shock when Martin’s lifeless body washes ashore the next morning, another glass artifact tucked in his dive bag. With cell phone records connecting Amanda to the drowning, Savannah must voyage through unchartered territory to exonerate her colleague and capture the twisted criminal behind Martin’s death . . .

Now it’s time to vote!

  1. I haven’t really read cozy mysteries before but I’ve been wanting to try them out because of the cute covers and “punny” titles. In fact, I went to B&N a few days ago and grabbed a few cozy mysteries hoping to start this genre.

Anywho, all of these books you have listed sound great. I am adding them to my list 🙂

  2. Cozy mysteries FTW! I voted for Cracked to Death because I liked the sound of the glass shop and the pirates angle, but the pancake one sounds good too (maybe I’m just hungry). Plus I like the cover too…

    • The first two books in that series where great and it’s interesting to learn more about glass and see how a glass shop runs. I love the idea of a pancake shop, which is why I requested that one.

    • I agree cozy covers always look so fun! I also really like pancakes, in fact I still have some store bought ones I plan to eat this evening, yum!

    • I think it’s a fun way to pick. I like that there are dogs on the cover. There was a dog in the first book that made an appearance regularly.
