The Mark of Noba (The Sterling Wayfairer Series #1)
by GL Tomas
Genre: Fantasy
Age category: Young Adult
Release Date: 25 August, 2015
Blurb:
Sterling Wayfairer has one goal for his senior year: make his mark. He’s been slipping into the background his whole high school career—distracted by his mother’s mental health, unsettled by the vivid dreams that haunt him at night, and overshadowed by the athletic accomplishments of his popular best friends. But this year is going to be different. He’s going to break a few rules, have some fun, and maybe even work up the nerve to ask his crush out on a date. But things don’t go exactly as planned. Students are disappearing, Sterling starts losing time, and it all seems to center around Tetra, a girl no one else seems to notice but him. When he finally tracks her down for answers, they aren’t what he expects: He and Tetra hail from a world called Noba, and they’re being hunted by a Naga, a malevolent shapeshifter that’s marked them for destruction.
Tetra and Sterling have distinct abilities that can help them fight back, but their power depends heavily on the strength of their bond, a connection that transcends friendship, transcends romance. Years apart have left their bond weak. Jumpstarting it will require Sterling to open his heart and his mind and put his full trust in the mysterious Tetra.
If he doesn’t, neither of them will survive.
My Cover Review:
This is one of those covers that immediately caught my attention. The nice fantasy swirls of blue in the background, the guy with something glowing in his hands standing back to back with a badass looking female with a sword. And if that cover wans’t enough the blurb sounds pretty amazing too and fits the cover. The hints to their abilities corresponds with the guy’s glowing hands. The position of the characetrs fits the description of how they have to work together. The background hints to the different world.
Oh and I just love the colours used on this cover, the greenish blue of the background with green and blue accents. And then there’s the almost glowy font, which fits the fantasy feel of the cover. The age of the models also points to this being a Young Adult book. So the title seems to fit both the blurb, age category and genre, which is always a plus in my opinion.
To conclude: a great cover that immediately cathes my eyes. The cover fits the blurb and contains some elements also mentioned in the blurb. The cover fits the genre. I especially like the fantasy feel of the background and the colours used on the cover. I can’t wait to read this book and see if it is as good as the blurb and cover promises.

I LOVE the cover girl! To me, it adds depth to it. The colors like you pointed put along with the stance of the characters make it look awesome! It looks like it’s more centered toward younger YA and I prefer the ‘older YA’ if that makes any sense? So, not sure if I’ll read it or not but I definitely ship that cover! Really pretty!♡
The cover is amazing! The stance of the character really got my attention as it’s not a pose you see often on covers. I am not really sure about which side of YA it falls on. I got a copy for review, so I can let you know once I’ve read it?

Cute cover, very youthful. I’m assuming that the characters are “diverse” based on the skintones of th peeps on the cover?

Yes the characters are diverse indeed and the authors also promote the book as that. It’s a great cover!
