Every first Saturday of the month I Interview a blogger. This month I interview Mel from the blog The Daily Prophecy. This is the second time I interview a fellow Dutch blogger!

Hello Mel!
Welcome to Lola’s Reviews! I am so excited to have you on my blog today. I am so happy every time I find a fellow Dutch blogger! And I think you have an awesome blog.

Thank you for having me! It’s great to meet other Dutchies!

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I already wrote reviews on Goodreads and I saw some links to websites in other reviews. I started to look around on the internet and I knew right away:  I want this! So I made an account on Blogspot and I went for it. I’m still happy I took the jump.

How did you come up with the name for your blog, The Daily Prophecy?
I’m a fan of Harry Potter and the newspaper there is “The Daily Prophet.” I decided to change that to The Daily Prophecy.

How old is your blog now?
February 4th was my first blogoversary! That makes it 14 months now.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?
The community. Every comment on my blog makes me smile: there are people out there interested in what I have to say. I also love to comment back, so I’m always hopping around.

What do you enjoy the least about blogging?

The drama. I feel sad every time I see something with “plagiarism” popping up on Bloglovin’. It’s just so pathetic. Blogging is all about showing your thoughts about books. I don’t get the appeal of stealing someone else’s opinion.

How did you decide on this design for your blog?
I was contacted by the lovely Meg from Ink Skies if I was interested in a complete, free design. Of course! I was getting tired of my old design and she came up with something that radiates “me”.

I noticed how you use a picture of Belle from the Disney film Belle and the Beast as avatar. So I was wondering why do you use that picture?
Because I love Disney and this is my favorite movie from them. I can identify with Belle the most. She is loyal to her family, she loves to read, she feels awkward around new people, she wants adventure, etc. There are many things I recognize and I like the moral of this movie: “for beauty is found within”

In you About Me tab you mention that you love fairytales and retellings, what attracts you to these kind of books?
Hmm, I guess it’s the happy ending! No matter how bad things look, you know that it’s going to end with a “happily ever after.” And what I like about all the retellings is the way the author makes it original. All the twists are so much fun, like Cinder from Marissa Meyer. Who would have ever suspected that Cinderella and cyborgs make such a great combination?

Thanks Mel for the interview!

You’re welcome! 😀
