Every first Saturday of the month I interview a blogger. For today I interviewed Anna from the blog Herding Cats and Burning Soup.

herding cats & burning soupHello Anna!
Welcome to Lola’s Reviews! I am so excited to have you on my blog today. I came across your blog a few weeks ago and started following you on twitter and facebook. I love your blog and your frequent posts on facebook.

Aw thanks Lola! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog 🙂 Thanks for having me over today!

Why did you decide to start blogging?

I have a terrible memory? LOL I’m always joking that I need my very own personal keeper to keep me organized ::snort:: Really,  I was reading so fast and in so many different series I was having a hard time keeping up with them all and remembering what happened from book to book so I figured it would be a great way to have keep track of what I’d been thinking about a series. And then it just kind of went on from there.

How did you come up with the name for your blog, Herding Cats and Burning Soup?
When I was setting things up I didn’t want to focus just on books with the blog so needed something a little different that would represent that. I really do herd cats on a daily basis (I run an animal rescue) and *hangs head* I have actually burned soup. Yes. *takes a bow* I have major talent. lol The blog is mainly for books but there are also animal posts and cooking posts once a week so it really… fit.

How old is your blog now?
We just turned a year and a half on June 1st! Woot! Can’t believe how fast it’s going!

What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I really have a good time with the blog and love sharing what I’m reading. It’s really fun getting to introduce people to an author or series they haven’t seen before or one they might not have tried on their own. It’s really an amazing feeling to have someone contact you and say ‘omg I LOVED this book! Thanks for pointing it out’, ya know? Totally makes any of the stressful moments worth it.

What do you enjoy the least about blogging?
The stress of it now and again. It takes a good bit of time to set up interviews/guest posts and work on reviews at the same time. I actually enjoy that most of the time–the businessy paperwork side of things– but it can cut into my reading time and some times I just want to snuggle up with a steamy read and not have to worry about schedules or getting this or that done.

How did you decide on this design for your blog?
Since I’m doing everything on my own I needed something simple but fun. I found the little kitty image I use and decided to go with it. It came with a bunch of other cat images in the same style and I’ve been working those slowly into different designs. I liked the simple black and white look and every month or so I update the header and give our kitty a bit of a make over. Right now I’m really digging her red outfit and glasses so those are gonna stay for a while.

What is your favorite place to curl up with a book?
I’m a bed reader 🙂 I absolutely love my room. It’s a spanish moss green with gold and red accent colors and it’s just a peaceful relaxing spot for me. So my bed with it’s many *many* pillows and blankets is where I end up reading 99% of the time.

What is your favourite food and drink to have with a good book?
Right now…hm… lemon soda and honey roasted peanuts. I’m addicted to both.

Which are your favourite book genres?
Anything Romance. I *love* my romances. Historicals, contemporaries, paranormal. I read them all. I enjoy all heat levels too though I do love my steamy reads and tend to gravitate towards those. I’ve been getting into dark romance lately which I find very interesting. Definitely not for everyone but the criminologist in my finds the twisted/darker romantic reads fascinating.

One of the things I like most about you and your blog is how you’re always talking on facebook and twitter about things that happened or the book you’re reading. How do you manage to always find something to talk about? I know I always have difficulties coming up with interesting things to post on twitter and facebook.
Aw yay! I’m glad you enjoy that part. I have an absolute  blast on Facebook and have so much fun chatting with everyone on there. Really I just share exactly what pops in my head as I’m reading. My friends don’t really read romance so jumping on the phone with an “omg you would not believe what he just did!” would get like no reaction lol so I hop on FB and share with all the ladies I’ve become friends with this past year. I love that they “get it” even if they haven’t read the book and can laugh along with me or share their own thoughts on whatever it is that’s popped into my head. Hmmm maybe that’s my favorite thing about blogging! Definitely in the top 2 🙂
Ooo got a little off topic there, sorry! Basically I have no filter when it comes to my books and if I think it it usually ends up on FB. lol

Thanks Anna for the interview!

  1. Thanks so much for having me on Lola! I had a great time 🙂 And if anyone has any other questions I’m more than happy to pop back over and answer between errands –a little book shopping, a little cat herding and auto parts shopping. I am determined to get this car running again 🙂

  2. Bea

This was a fun interview and I love the random comments you post on FB. They make me laugh. You also have a fun blog. 🙂

    • I have to say I only ever watched the first 2 episodes of My Little Pony, but one of my friends loved it and she is good with photoshop so she makes custom made ponies for some friends. This pony was specifially made for me (it is supposed to be me in pony form) and then I decided to use it as my blog banner.

  3. I adore Anna she is one of my blogging pals, a great go to gal for advice. I loved reading this interview! I am also a bed reader and serious animal lover. So learning she runs an animal shelter just makes adore her more!! Happy 1.5 years cheers to many more to follow.

  4. **Wavin** Hi Anna!
