sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another week of preparing for our upcoming move. This week we bought the paint for our next house, I am happy with the colors we bought. It was a bit tough to make so many decisions about which exact hues we wanted and compare the different hues, but I am glad that’s done now. There also was more packing of boxes and more cleaning things out. We also found a bunch of boxes and stuff we never sorted through when we moved to our current house and a lot of that can go away, but it still took some time sorting through and the boxes still need to be done. The packing is one of the few things I don’t mind as much, it takes time, but I kinda like fitting things in the boxes and making sure the boxes are filled, but not too heavy and that the objects are fitted nicely in there.

I’ve been quite stressed and anxious still as moving stresses me out. I’ve been doing better with sticking to some of my routines which helps a little bit. I am having trouble sleeping again sadly, I either sleep a lot or I have trouble falling asleep. And I nap almost every day. We also had mosquitos bothering us again, after a very warm day I killed 4 of them in one night. I didn’t get as much sleep that night and ended up with some mosquito bites as well, luckily my anti-histamine pill took care of my bad reaction to the bites.

My reading has been all over the place, I discarded any attempt to stick to my review copy reading schedule and am just reading whatever I feel like. I am really enjoying a manga I am reading and I have a re-read going on as well as some shorter reads that are easier to read. I also got partway through some books and then was in the mood for something else and picked up a new book, hopefully I will actually get back to the books I set aside temporarily as I was enjoying them, but I try not to worry about it too much. I am also reading less. So that’s why I actually finished so few books.

What did I read this week?

I can’t wait for you to be able to get away from those mosquitos! And how exciting to be picking out the paint! Packing is stressful for me because I think I know how much will fit in a box, but then I’m always wrong, and end up. needing more boxes than I thought. I know my storage space that I’m cleaning the last tubs out of has things that were in the basement of my last house and should have been gone through before I let them sit there that long. Oh well. Hope you have a good week!

    • I really hope there will be no mosquitos in the next house, this current place has so many mosquitos in the area and despite havign netting a few still manage to get in.

I am not sure yet if we need more boxes, so we’ll see how that part goes, but I usually can visualize decently whether something fits or not. I am glad at least that’s something that comes easily to me.

It’s tough to find the time and energy to clean things like that out, we also found a lot of stuff that was there since we moved here and we never even looked at it.

  2. I’m glad you are able to do some reading. I am a fan of combining audio books with packing or unpacking. It’s really hard to go through stuff before you move but you will be really glad if you do. I don’t seem to ever want to get rid of things we might need. I really hope you don’t have mosquitos in the new place.

    • I haven’t tried listening to audio while packing or unpacking and not sure if I could handle that. I usually listen only with activities I’ve done a lot and don’t need much mental space for. Packing takes too much effort and focus still. And I know it will help a lot to sort through stuff beforehand, but I just wished we had finished that long before we had to move. I also hope there are no mosquitos in the new place.

  3. Yes, there are so many shades of each color of paint that it can be intimidating just looking through the samples. So glad you’re getting so much done and will hopefully leave mosquito issues behind once you move out.
I think it was smart not to push a reading schedule when you need reading to be relaxing right now.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • We knew the general colors we wanted, but then choosing between the exact hues was tough as there are so many of them. I definitely hope the new house hes no mosquitos, the previous renter said she never saw any mosquitos, so that’s good to hear. It has been nice just reading what I want and not worrying about the review copies, I still am get some review copies read, but I try not to worry about them right now.

  4. Girl, those mosquitoes are still after you? 😭 I hate that. And it sounds like you get terrible reactions to their bites like I do, so I totally feel you. I hope your new place is nice and mosquito-free. It will be a nice reprieve after everything.

I hope you have a smooth week with all the packing and everything.

    • Luckily there aren’t too many of them, but every mosquito is a pain and I don’t even know how they sneak in with the netting in the windows. Yes I get bad reaction to the bites, so that makes it even worse. The previous renter of our new place said she never saw any mosquitos, so I hope that means we won’t have any there.

  5. Urg – mosquitos are the worst! I very much hope they won’t plague you so much in your new home. And listening to audiobooks while packing sounds like a great idea – they certainly take the pain out of housework for me. I’m not surprised you are stressed – it’s the third most stressful life event after bereavement and divorce, so do be kind to yourself Lola. Have the best week you possibly can:)).

    • I sure hope the new house won’t have, the previous renter said she never saw any mosquitos, so I hope that’s the case for us as well. I think I wrote that confusingly, I don’t actually listen to audio’s while packing. Packing takes too much mental space still.

I didn’t realize moving was ranked so highly as stressful life event, but it certainly feels true for me.
