The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
Happy new year!
This week again had some better and worse days with me struggling with low energy and mood due to it being winter and the days being dark and short. I don’t like new Year’s eve with all the fireworks going off the whole day, the sound stresses me out. So I am glad that’s over again for another year.
I make some no-bake chocolate cookie bars that turned out really well. I used this recipe, I just used less filling as I wanted them more like bars.
I also did a bit of formatting, putting the final touches on some special editions paperbacks I am formatting for an author. Hopefully they’re almost done now, there was a weird issue that popped up with the font switching font for no reason in the middle of a chapter. It was an easy fix, but then I had to look again to see if the issue hadn’t popped up in another chapter.
What did I read this week?
Discussion Challenge
I wanted to do more discussion type posts this year so decided to join this book blog discussion challenge this year. I already did one post this year so I am off to a good start. I am aiming for the lowest level Discussion Dabbler (1-10 posts), but would be thrilled if I can make Creative Conversationalist level (11-20 posts).
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Gone For You by Sophia Quinn
– Review: Murder Past Due by Miranda James
– Review: Competing Against Thor by Laura Greenwood
– Lola’s Ramblings: Review Books I Didn’t get to in 2024
People were doing loud fireworks here for over an hour, it felt like it was neverending. I’m glad you made some tasty cookie bars though!
The fireworks lasted very long here too and they started as soon as it got dark and then after midnight it got really bad and went on for over an hour. Just glad that’s over again. The cookie bars were really good, will definitely make those again.
I have a self published author friend who I think needs help with formatting, but she doesn’t really want to take advice on that I guess since she’s been doing it so long. But I feel like she needs to have her chapters start more obviously separate from the chapter before, as well as do little breaks when it jumps scenes within a chapter. Oh well, that’s her books and she can do them the way she wants! We’re having a major winter storm right now. I’m hoping for a snow day tomorrow, but afraid the timing will not work out for that. Have a good week!

I recently read a book that had just scene breaks for the whole short book instead of chapters, I prefer actual chapters as then I can see in my ereader how long the chapter still is and decide whether I want to finish it. I wish I could help authors like those with their formatting, but it’s hard to help them unless they want the help. Or maybe they think that works better, like you said it’s their books and they can do what they want. Did you get a snow day?
I’ve gotten a snow week! lol. Only have teachers going back on Friday. No students at all this week now because of temps and the roads not getting cleared very well. I think she just wants to get it done without spending any more money than she has to. So I guess I understand that!
That’s nice you got a whole snow week!
I always think I should do the Discussion Challenge but if I have something to say I just put it in my Sunday Post usually. But I’m happy to read others’ posts. Happy New Year!
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I put a lot of things in my Sunday Post as well, but I enjoyed the top ten lists at the end of the year so much I thought I would do some more. The discussion posts I have planned are mostly top ten lists so far as well as some other topics that work better for a separate post. I agree it’s always fun to read discussion posts too.
Yes, thankfully New Year’s fireworks are over and we can have a calm neighborhood again. Neat that you got the formatting issues worked out for your author work. I’ll look forward to your discussion posts and reaching your goal number.
Have a good week, Lola!
The fireworks are always so stressful and I am glad when they are over again for another year. It was good to get those formatting issues figured out, still not sure why that bug was happening in the first place though. I look forward to writing the discussion posts 🙂
I’m glad the fireworks are done too. Happy New Year.
It sure is nice to have fireworks over again.
I was surprised at how few fireworks were in my neighborhood on NYE. In past years, fireworks went off continually. It was much quieter this year.
That sounds nice it was quieter in your neighborhood this year with regards to the fireworks.
