The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This week was not a good one. There was lots of construction/ renovation noise this week as they are replacing windows around our complex as well as someone getting a new kitchen and/ or bathroom. So lots of noise, which caused me to feel stressed and overwhelmed due to my sensory sensitivities. Then I got my period migraine later in the week, it was a bad one this time and I felt pretty miserable for a few days.
Luckily we managed to change our date for getting our windows replaced to next week, so it wouldn’t be during my migraine. I am still feeling very stressed about that, but at least the timing is better. We had to prep some stuff as we had some furniture close to the windows as well as plants in the windowsill and removing the curtains.
Besides that I did some important work I had been putting off for a while now. I finally moved my Lola’s Blog Tours mailing lists to the new Mailerlite version as the classic one didn’t have a free plan anymore, so I had been paying for it this year, while I didn’t have enough subscribers to warrant it. Now I had the time to finally move to the new version and free plan there. It took some time and effort, but the whole process went easier than I had expected.
Then I went to update my php version for my blog and managed to break my website, so I switched it to a another php version instead of the newest one and that seemed to work better. Luckily I noticed it right away so I knew what had caused the problem.
On a more positive note I bought some tasty Halloween themed muffins at our local bakery which were delicious. We also did a bit more cleaning out and are almost done with another room.
What did I read this week?
I finished RJ Blain’s story Failed Colony and Starlane Crossroad by Carol Van Natta from Pets in Space 9. Both were good stories.
The Coharie Beach Café was a solid start to this new series.
And I really enjoyed All for Knot: Book Two, which wrapped up the duology.
Mixing Drinks for Tipsy Weasels was a sweet paranormal romance story, but not one of the better ones in the series for me.
A Very Woodsy Murder had an interesting setting, but neither the characters nor the mystery fully captured my attention.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Heartwaves by Anita Kelly
– Review: Love Sugar Magic A Sprinkle of Spirits by Anna Meriano
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Her Texas Cowboy by Casey Dawes
– Review: All For Knot Book One by Ember Blaze
– Review: Back to Belfast by Emma L McGeown
Hope the construction ends soon and your windows get put in without a lot of noise and fuss. At times like those, I head to the library or bookstore for some peace and quiet! Have a better week.
I think the construction noise will continue for a few more weeks sadly. The windows gone done and at least it all went pretty smoothly.
Sorry, your week wasn’t a good one. Construction noises are difficult to live with.
Despite the migraine, it looks like you still managed to do a lot of reading—way more than me! But I did read two books, which is rare.
The construction noises are so annoying. A lot of the reading got done earlier in the week, two of them were short reads which also helped. That’s nice you still got two books read.
Hi! Sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great week with all the noise.
I am a huge Ellen Byron fan but I must say I wasn’t a huge fan of A Very Woodsy Murder.
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
Thanks for letting me know you usually enjoy Ellen Byron’s books, I might check out one of her other series then as I wasn’t a huge fan of A Very Woodsy Murder either, so it’s good to know you enjoy her others more.
Ugh, that can be so frustrating! I hope when they do your windows you’ll be able to deal with it easier. Too bad A Very Woodsy Murder wasn’t good, I love the title and cover of that one. Hope you have a better week!

It’s been so noisy and busy with all the renovation going on. At least our windows are done now.
I was so excited for A Very Woodsy Murder, so I am sad it didn’t turn out to be as good as I had hoped.
Oof, sounds like a sensory nightmare! I hope you can get away from it more in the week to come!

It really is a sensory nightmare and it’s hard to get away from it as it’s loud everywhere in the house. I try and get out of house a few times, which is a nice break.
Hopefully the window installation goes smoothly and quickly and you don’t get another migraine for a while.
Thanks! Luckily the window installation went smoothly.
It’s great that the mailing list switch went pretty well. I hope you feel better and that the window install goes smoothly.

I am so glad to have that switch done. The window install went smoothly luckily.
Yeah a headache and construction work would be a terrible combo. Glad you could get more time for that. Yay for clearing out another room.
Have a good week, Lola!
I am glad we could move the window replacing to this week so it didn’t coincide with my migraine, but it was still a tough week.
