The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
What a week. We’re still dealing with the mosquito problem and it’s just been really bad some days. We might have finally figured out what’s causing it. We were killing 15-25 mosquitos per day and then the next there were just as many. We hardly got any sleep at night due to mosquitos circling around and us having to go and hunt them so we could sleep for a bit. And then ofcourse also having the mosquito bites as well, i woke up one night with like 5 different bites on my face, which felt horrible. The homemade traps we made didn’t help and caught nothing.
On internet we eventually found a comment somewhere about them getting in through the sewage system sometimes, so we put drain blocks or covers on all our drains so they can’t get through. This seems to have worked and we’re seeing less mosquitos now. And we bought some mosquito netting for our bed, so hopefully we can at least get some sleep in the meantime. Hopefully this will work. We still had mosquitos get in the netting as it’s impossible to fully seal all gaps, but at least they are easier to spot when they are in the netting as it’s a smaller space. We’re now back to 5-15 mosquitos per day and hopefully that number will continue to dwindle as we get the ones still hiding in our house.
Besides that I’ve mostly been trying to get through my days, but haven’t had much time to actually rest or make progress on things. I did manage to clean out some more shelves in our kitchen, these were the ones with my spices and related items and I found a bunch that were past that expiration date that threw out and reorganized things better so it’s easier to see what I have. I also did a bit of de-dusting. And a little bit of work for one of my authors as we’re finalizing the formatting I did for one of her books and starting the next one.
What did I read this week?
I re-read Doll Girl Meets Dead Guy for the second time this year, which is pretty awesome as I usually rarely re-read books. I re-read this one in ebook earlier this year and then the author read her book aloud on Youtube and I just had to listen to that as well. It was so fun to experience the story in another way and I just love this book!
Five Star Review was a fun m/m friends to lovers romance between a human and werewolf. I enjoyed this one and it was a fun extra addition to this series.
Die Buying was an engaging cozy mystery set at a mall with a mall cop as main character. The setting made the book feel fresh and the mystery was well done. The characters were all interesting.
Beach Blanket Homicide was a DNF as the writing style and opening chapter didn’t grip me.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu 2 by Natsuya Semikawa
– Review: Murder on Devil’s Pond by Ayla Rose
– Review: Speak Up! by Rebecca Burgess
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Escape With Me by Sophia Quinn
– Review: Winter Tales from Cozy Vales
– Review: Dating a Snow Goddess by Laura Greenwood
That mosquito thing is so crazy! The sewer aspect sounds about right I guess since they tend to show up around water. I got a mosquito bite on my finger last night, couldn’t believe I didn’t feel it until I noticed the mosquito on my finger! I hope you get that all figured out.

I knew mosquitos often are seen around water, but I didn’t realize they could come up from the drains, I think they usually don’t. It might be related to an issue with the sewer close by and that’s why they’re coming up through the drains.
We had gnats one year and it was that we needed to clean the sink drains but I can’t even imagine with mosquitos! I hope this week goes much better.

So glad you found a possible solution for the mosquitos. They make life miserable.

They sure do! I hope we get them all fully gone soon.
Hopefully, the sink screens will do the trick for you. Man, you’ve had a rough go of it with those mosquitos. Neat that you got the chance to listen to a favorite story being read.
Have a good week, Lola!
The past few years we only had the occasional mosquito here or there, so this is quite the difference and we’re still seeing them despite all the measurements in place. I loved listening to Doll Girl Meets Dead Guy, it was so fun!
Oh my goodness, that mosquito infestation sounds horrible! Hope it’s completely under control soon!

It really is horrible, I hope it gets under control soon.
The mosquitos would make me insane. I get bit occasionally, but my son & grandson taste sweet and are left with welts the size of half dollars wherever they bite them. Someone said spraying vanilla extract on you and around widows etc rebels them.

They are definitely driving us crazy, it’s so annoying and frustrating. I am like your son & grandson with that the mosquitos go after me and I get large welts. Taking antihistamine pills was something I tried recently and it helps a lot and makes the welts go away faster.
A mosquito infestation would be the worst. I hope your solution works!

Seems the solution didn’t fully work, but it did make a difference. It’s really annoying havign to deal with all the mosquitos.
