The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This was a bit of a tiring week. My boyfriend had an appointment and an important phone call this week. We also did some cleaning of the house again, it’s slow going, but we’re making progress. I also did some shelves in the kitchen. The weather was cooler this week which was nice and we managed to cool down the house quite a bit, there even was quite the nip in the air one day and we got a lot of rain and overcast days, such a world of a difference with last week.
I got my monthly period migraine again and while the medicines are helping I still had some pretty painful moments. The brain fog and worsening of my sensory sensitivities were pretty bad this time, which made it a struggle to get anything done.
We’re still dealing with a lot of mosquitos, I think due to the wet spring we’ve had there are a lot more mosquitos this year. It’s annoying, we aren’t sleeping as well and I get easily dis-regulated when I don’t sleep enough. We’re trying some homemade mosquito traps with yeast to see if that helps.
I am slowly getting out of my weird reading mood. I ended up DNF’ing two books this week and managed to finish some good books and that helped a lot.
What did I read this week?
I’ve been in a bit of a weird reading mood where books didn’t really grip me, but I think I am slowly getting out of it. Marked by Magic and Charting Stars were DNF’s unfortunately. Marked by Magic is by an author I really like, but I just could not get into this book. Charting Stars had such a beautiful cover, but the writing style and story didn’t grip me.
Escape With Me was awesome! A really well written romance story between two characters who are fun to read about and feel real. I really like this author’s books!
I’ve been working through Winter Tales from Cozy Vales for a while now and I really enjoyed it. One of the best anthologies I’ve read. I really liked this one and enjoyed most stories. The cohesive theme and vibe with all the stories set in the same world was awesome.
Stoney Gazes For Helpful Gorgons was the latest book in a series I like and this was another great story.
This week I blogged about:
– Review: Star Cruise Dream Dancer by Veronica Scott
– Review: Strawberry Milkshake and What’s at Stake by Laura Greenwood
– Review: Murder at the Motel by Beth Dolgner
What to expect next week on the blog:
– Review: Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu 2 by Natsuya Semikawa
– Review: Murder on Devil’s Pond by Ayla Rose
– Review: Speak Up! by Rebecca Burgess
Ugh, mosquitoes are the worst, and I’m one of those people who is a mosquito magnet. I’m sorry that you also had to deal with a migraine and just a tiring week overall. That book does have a really pretty cover, that always makes a DNF more disappointing lol. But I’m glad you found a couple great books at least!

I agree they are the worst. I am a mosquito magnet as well and have allergic reactions to the bites, so that’s another thing to deal with on top of them keeping us out of our sleep. I was really sad I didn’t like that book as the cover was so pretty.
I find DNFing really keeps me from getting in reading slumps. Believe me I do have some books I don’t want to give up on, but when I do I usually just move on to another good book instead. I’ve got some reviews of yours to check out still I think. I hope this week is better for you! That mosquito issue is crazy! I hope you get something figured out soon.

I still find it hard sometimes to DNF, but it really helps. And like you mentioned, when I do set them aside I usually find the next book I pick up I can get into. The mosquito issue is really crazy, hopefully we finally figured something out.
You are really having it rough with all those mosquitos and the struggles with the migraine. Not being able to get into a book when you’re a big reader is a frustrating mood. I had that a few times earlier this spring. Glad you had your anthology to help you have some good reading and yay for the ongoing house clean out going steadily on.
Have a good week, Lola!

It really has been a rough few weeks with all the mosquitos, I hope we finally found the solution this week. It really was frustrating not being able to get in books, luckily it seems I got out of my slump again :).
