The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This week just felt a bit off. Not even fully sure why, but it just didn’t go as smoothly. There is some maintenance work they were doing on our apartment building outside, the noise wasn’t too loud, but hearing that sound throughout the whole day is pretty disruptive. And I had some less good nights of sleep too. I also struggled a bit to really get into the books I was reading after I finished The Horse Mistress Book 2. Or like I seemed to enjoy the books less because of my off feeling mood, who knows? I did mange to finish 3 books this week. I also had a pretty bad headache one day and didn’t get much done that day.
It was a pretty decent week in terms of work tough. I send out a media kit for the tour next week and I have a few more media kits to finish up that have to go out early next week. And I did some hours of assistant work.
The weather stayed pretty warm most of the week and it felt more like the end of summer than fall, but it’s cooling down a bit again this weekend and feeling more like fall.
What did I read this week?
The Horse Mistress Book 2 was even better than book 1, I love the romance between the characters and seeing how they handle everything. Dire Wolf Wanted was another great book in this series, although the pacing was a bit off at times, I liked the characters and the romance and there’s some fascinating parts about the culture and such of the people of one of the main characters. Dead in the Garden was a fun and cute cozy mystery. The mystery has a bit of an unique feel which I liked, but failed to fully keep my attention at times.
What did I cook for dinner this week?
- Spinach Pasta
- Lentil stew
- Springs rolls

Book Haul:
I didn’t get any new books this week, now that’s rare, lol.
Loss of sleep always makes me feel a bit off. And it affects my reading too. Hopefully, things will quiet down and you can enjoy your week:)

I hope this week is better again with no noise and better sleep.
When there is noise outside have you considered listening to white noise? I do that when I read and my husband is watching TV. I like storms or ocean waves, it helps block out the sound. I also have another white noise storm for sleeping.
I thought I wasn’t going to have any books this week either but then all the book boxes came in 🙂
Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! <3

I hadn’t considered that, but that’s a pretty good idea :). I’ll keep it in mind for next time.
It’s always a bit strange when I don’t get any new books in a week, but kinda nice too as I still have more than enough books.
Oh Lola I hope your headache did not last too long! I’ve been plagued with them for months now so I can relate. I hope next week goes better!
I am sorry to hear you’ve been plagued with headaches for months, they really are a pain.
Having noise around your place can be quite annoying.

Yes it is quite annoying, especially when it lasts a long time.
Sorry you had such an off week. That kind of noise really is disruptive. But at least you read some great books, even if you did have a harder than usual time getting into them. And wow, no new books! That *is* rare lol.
I hope they’re done with our part of the complex now and next week will be quieter. I had some great reads at least this week. And I was so surprised when I realized I didn’t get any new books this week.
Sorry you had an off week – there must be something in the air as I also struggled badly. Glad the reading went well though and I hope you feel better this coming week, Lola:)
Sorry to hear you struggled badly last week. I hope this week was better.
Noise can make it really hard to concentrate, and lack of sleep only makes things worse. I’m sorry you’re dealing with both!

The noise really got on my nerves. I needed a few uninterrupted nights of sleep to catch up again.
I detest when that sort of thing happens for me where it just feels off. My Friday was like that. I had a light headache and I felt like I was fumbling anything I picked up and couldn’t concentrate on tasks. Maybe it was the distraction of having work done in your building. I know Thursday when the power company sent out crews to trim back tree limbs from the electrical lines in our neighborhood was very distracting for me especially since they had to set up work in my yard to get to my neighbor’s tree. But, it had to be done. 😉
Good on you for getting to three books this week and that one was even better than the first one in the series. I was bad and put six books onto my review pile this week. Well, to be fair, three of them were supposed to come last month.
Hopefully, this week will be a better one for you.

Those off days can be so annoying as you can’t quite figure out what’s wrong or what you want to do. Sorry to hear you had an off Friday. Work outside or close to your house can be very distracting indeed.
This week I added 3 books again, which is the norm, so I am always a bit surprised when I don’t add any new books in a week.
I’m sorry to hear that the week didn’t go so smoothly. It’s always a bummer to be taken down by headaches and construction noises. The house next to me is about to go through a major renovation so I’m sure my quiet days around here are numbered. My week went well and was pretty busy!

I hate it when they do renovation of any kind around here, I know it’s necessary, but it’s always so noisy. Sorry to hear the house next to yours is undergoing a major renovation, I hope they’re done soon and you don’t have too many days with noise.
I think sometimes we just get into a slump and can’t figure out why. I’ve been through times when I just couldn’t get into any type of reading at all, no matter what I picked up. Hope you’re getting some better sleep, and kudos that things are going so well on the work front. Hugs…RO

I eventually figured out what I wanted to read, but it took some time to get out of the slump.
