The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
This week was a bit calmer than the previous weeks. This week I finished up the marketing assistant work for both of my authors for this month. It’s always ncie to finish that early enough before the end of the month and focus a bit more on blogging those last few days. I wrote a few new blog posts in the previous days. Sadly I didn’t got any new tours this week, but I did get a few sign-ups for review copies on open review opportunities.
I again did get way too many new books this week, it’s like all the good books are beign released soon and I cna’t stay away from netgalley and all the books there. I actually got quite some reading and gaming done this week and made some time to relax. I also tried out two new recipes, one couscous dinner recipe and a Kaiserschmarrn recipe. I am still in a testing out new recipes mood and have lined up two new recipes to try out next week.
And I finally threw away the rat food this week. I’ve been putting it off as it makes me sad, it’s been about half a year now since our last pet rat died and I still miss our rats a lot. And sometimes it’s better not to think about, but I thought it had been long enough and I should throw it out now. We weren’t able to find someone who wanted the food back when they just died and now most of it wasn’t good anymore. I felt sad throwing so many food away, but I don’t want to give it to someone else now. There were a few things that were still good that I kept and we put up a note in our local supermarket that someone could come and get it for free so we’ll see what happens with that.
Random Picture(s) of the Week
I mentioned last month that I won a gift card form amazon and bought measuring spoons. Well this week they arrived! Aren’t they cute! I love how they all have different colours.
I’ve been craving pancakes lately and trying out new recipes, so this week I made kaiserschmarrn. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite evening snacks, it’s easy and quick to make and it tastes so good. Yum! I already made pictures for a recipe post early March.
What did I cook for dinner this week?
- Sunday: leftover Korma
- Extra: kaiserschmarrn
- Monday: Salad with Couscous, green veggies, pistache and peaches

Before he can object, the corporation teams him up with a strange new partner who’s more interested in statistics than instinct and ships them both off to Titan, the disputed moon where humans have been living for centuries. Sometimes you can go home again…After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.
Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease—and tempt—him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.
Ohh that kaiserschmarrn looks tasty, looking forward to seeing that recipe. And I know how you felt about throwing away that food, I recently had to declutter some things from our house that made me feel really sad too as they held very sad memories but I do feel better now that they are gone.
You have a lovely mix of books, enjoy! I’m finding NetGalley hard to resist at the moment too, everything looks so good, maybe it’s the same every January but I don’t remember ever being so tempted to grab them all!
Trish @ Between My Lines recently posted…The Sunday Post : Get your Bookish News #Hacked
I think I made that Kaiserschmarrn three or four times this week, it’s so good and eays to make!
Yes I do feel better finally clearing it out, there are still a lot of times those sad memories surface and every time I thought of that food I just couldn’t do it. So I am glad to finally have cleared it out.
It seems there are so many good books on netgalley. I actually even got declined for two books in the past few weeks, guess that’s sorta a good thing as else I would have even more books. I can’t remember ever having a january like this too, but then I only started getting more active on netgalley this year once I started reading on my ipad.
Oh my goodness, Lola, you really did get a lot of books this week! I got Nobody But You yesterday, but after my book haul post so it’ll be featured next week. I can’t wait to read it. Your other new books look great as well, and I hope you’ll enjoy them all.

Yeah listing those books like that really made me realize how many I got, but they’re all books I really want to read, so I don’t feel too bad. I was so happy I got accepted for Nobody But You, I only got accepoted yesterday as wel, in my case just in time to include it. I hope it’s as good as the first two books!
I am glad to finally have taken care of the rat food, but things like that just make me remember they’re gone again. It’s so sad :(.
Lola recently posted…Sunday Post #162
It’s always sad getting rid of items after a pet has passed away 🙁 we had a lot of senior cat food left when my old cat died (not suitable for the kittens we adopted), but we managed to find someone to take it. We still use some of his things for our new cats, which I’m pleased for in a way – because they remind me of him, but I still wish he was around – not that I don’t like our new cats, but they’re not the same as having a slow moving geriatric cat lol
To Helvetica and Back looks like a fun read 🙂 and your new measuring spoons are so cute! You won’t get them mixed up with those bright colours!
Wattle recently posted…From the Vault Book Review: Meet Me At The Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan
We contacted a rattery here in the same city when they died, but it wasn’t the right brand for her, so she didn’t want it. We had so much food left and a lot of it had expiry dates end 2015. I just wanted to find someone else for it, but it’s hard to focus on that while the grief is still so fresh.
Most of the other rat stuff we kept, in case we ever take rats again. I can imagine that using stuff form the old cat can be nice as it reminds you of him, but also sad.
I just couldn’t resist getting those measuring spoons, they are so pricey here and these on amazon were pretty cheap and they looked so cute. I like how every spoon has a different colour. I am really curious about Helvetica and Back, it sounds like a good cozy mystery and had a lot of great reviews so far.
Those measuring spoons ARE cute!Kaiserschmarrn looks delicious 😀 I have a serious question for you, Lola. Will you come to the US and make food for me? I will pay you in books ;D (jkjk) Super curious about City of the Lost and the Jill Shalvis book. Yum!

I don’t actually know what kaiserschmarrn is, but it looks good!
Sorry about the rat food :-/ It is hard getting rid of the stuff when you lose a pet, so I understand.
I decided to request Cogling on Friday, but I figure I probably won’t hear back until Monday. It seems pretty popular though which means smaller blogs (like mine) probably aren’t getting it.
And cute measuring spoons 🙂

Kaiserschmarrn is an austria way of making pancakes, it’s a thick pancake you bake and the cut into pieces. It’s really good.
Even though we lost our last rat about half a year ago it’s still hard and I still miss them so much when I think of them. They were such a joy to have around.
I hope you’ll get accepted for Cogling! I got accepted pretty fast, so I hope you hear something soon. And even as a small blog you can get accepted, you do get a lot of comments and interaction on your blog, I am sure that counts for something too.
You always make me feel so good about my blog 🙂 But I’m starting to wonder if my request got lost among the others since I still have not been approved or rejected. Waiting in limbo like this frustrates me, especially since I don’t want to request any more until I get an answer for this one.

I hate the waiting too, I just want to know if I got accepted or declined, but sometimes it can take weeks or even months in rare cases. I am still waiting to hear back about a book I requested two weeks ago.
Let’s hope you hear back from Cogling soon. Maybe they only check request on certain days?
Having request pending never stops me from requesting more books, but when you suddenly get accepted for books you forgot were still pending it can make a dent in your percentage, so I understand why you rather wait till you hear back from that one first.
Lola recently posted…Review: Amanda Lester and the Orange Crystal Crisis by Paula Berinstein
I didn’t know they took that long sometimes! I guess I’m just impatient lol. But yeah, exactly, until I have more books reviewed, my percentage drops drastically when I get approved for new ones. Eventually it’ll be less of a problem.
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Laugh Out Loud Book Blurbs
Quite a lot of publishers approve or decline fast, usually within a week or two at max, but I also have had books where I had to wait much longer.
I am also impatient and just wnat to know if I get the book or not. I think I got approved for 106 or so books in total now, so a new book or two only is a 1% drop, on the other hand that can also be a difficult thign when you are trying to up that percentage as I need to read about 5-10 books to get 7% more.

I can only imagine how hard that was to get rid of the rat food. My sister still has her dogs bowls out and he passed away 2 years ago. But it is good to know that they are no longer in pain.

Wow! You got a ton of books this week! I have no idea what kaiserschmarrn is but it looks really good. If it satisfies your craving for pancakes, then it must be pancake-like! I’m hoping for a less busy week this week. I could use a little break!

Rats are great pets, they were such lovely and cute creatures. Our rats didn’t like cats, but they did bonded strongly with us. One of them, Pita, didn’t mind visitors and sat on their shoulders sometiems too, although she also bit someone’s finger once when she was sick. The other 3 were a bit more shy and mostly stayed with us. Our house still feels empty without them.

I’ve lost a few and yes, even giving away the food and toys made me sad weeks later. I had to throw out food after one died for the same reason- no one wanted it.

I hope this week is a bit busier again and if not I have lots of other things to keep me busy. It’s sad no one wanted the food, I wish I could’ve made other rats happy with the food and I feel a bit guilty for not trying harder, but it’s so hard to clean up their stuff.
I think the Kaiserschmarrn recipe will be posted early march, can’t wait to share that recipe with everyone, it’s delicious. And the measuring spoons bring a smile to my face every time I see them, they look so colourfull.
It seems January is that month for me, I can’t seem to stop requesting them and lots of the books I ordered with christmas money are arriving, so it feels like I am getting a lot of new books. Renee also reviewed that Rosanne Bittner book and I thought I should give one of her books a try as you both seem to love her books so much. And it was on netgalley. I really like Karen Rock her books so far, so I am excited for this one. And To Helvetica and Back sounds so good!
I signed up for NetGalley a few months ago but just signed up for a book this week and got it. I don’t use it much but it’s good when you see a book you want.

I love netgalley as it’s so easy to browse there and request a book when you find a good one. I foud lots of new books that way.
I know what you mean about your pets <3 I lost Loullig a month and a half ago but I'm still thinking about him every day, especially when I go to work and spot the place where I found him dead. They're part of our family, it's natural we should be mourning for them *hugs* I think I'll be trying your korma recipe this week ! And I have already read 2 books by Elizabeth Jordan Mierek and loved them, I like the cover of that one, enjoy. Have a great week, Lola 🙂
Oh, and I forgot, I also bought some measuring spoons too, so practical ! Mine are made of metals, but I spotted yours and they really gave me the eye, such lovely colors 🙂
I know they are so pretty with all the colors. It sure will be handy to have some measuring spoons now finally. I try a lot of US recipes and they always use those weird measurements.

I’m glad your week was slower but still productive, Lola. I love the measuring spoons! They’re so cute and colorful. The Kaiserschmarrn sounds really good – it’s nice to have a yummy evening snack like that. 🙂 And your book haul! Omigoodness! There are some on your list that really caught my eye. Another mermaid story…And Kelley Armstrong…Cogling sounds interesting. I hope you’ll enjoy all your new reads! And have a great upcoming week!

Yeah it was a nice haul this week, I am really excited for all of them. I need more time to read!
I like the sound of the Kelley Armstrong novel, I like the idea of a town you can’t leave.
Netgalley is very addictive, I am trying to work on getting the numbers on my shelf down and my percentage up!
Those kaiserschmarrn look so good, you always have the best food!!
Have a great week!

I know right the concept of the City of the Lost sounds so intriguing. I really need to read soon.
I try to get my percentage up too, but ugh they have so many good books lately and I can’t resist requesting them. I think I have a netgalley addiction.
Thanks! The kaiserschmarrn is one of my favourite evening bakings lately, it’s so good!

Those are very cute spoons 🙂 I’m sorry about the rat babe food. That is a hard decision to make I know 🙁

It was hard to throw it away as it reminded me of the rats. I was hoping someone would want the food that was still good, but we haven’t heard any response to that yet :(.
I am really happy with the new spoons, they are so cute!
