My Review
I picked this one up during a stressful week. I didn’t know what to read, but wanted something that would pull me in and that I was sure I would enjoy. So I decided it was time for the next matchbaker Mysteries book and I am so glad I picked this one up. This book was so good and I loved it. It pulled me in from the first chapter and I had trouble putting it down as I wanted to keep reading and figure out what happens next.
There is so much going on in this book. There’s a time skip between the previous book and this one, but I think that totally worked here. The court case for Vangie’s ex is over and she thinks that’s it, until he shows up in her bakery. And that’s only the start of things. There are twists and turns. There’s plenty of mystery and questions. And a dead body or two. I just wanted to keep reading. I was trying to make sense of everything and figure out what was going on and it’s awesome seeing it all come together at the end. It such a twisty mystery and it was such an engaging read seeing how it all plays out.
This book felt like a very important one for Vangie. There are some big things she has to deal with and I liked seeing her handle everything that comes her way. And by the end of the book things have changed and even more changes might be coming.
I really like Vangie. She’s one of the reasons I love this series so much. She feels so real and even tough I sometimes shake my head or tell her to talk to the sheriff, I always understand why she acts the way she does. I feel like we get to understand her even better in this book. We get to understand more about her relationship with Edward, her ex and the impact it left on her life.
It’s hard to write this review without giving spoilers. I can say I really liked the direction some plot lines went. And it felt satisfying that I had predicted something in Vangie’s personal life correctly. This book took me by surprise multiple times as well. It really is an awesome read and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Vangie.
To summarize: This was an awesome read. This book gripped me from the start and kept my attention till the finish. I had a hard time putting it down as I just wanted to keep reading. the mystery is an awesome one and I like how it tied into Vangie’s past and she has a personal connection with the mystery because of that. There are some great twists and turns. There is a lot going on and I was excited to see how it all plays out. It’s great seeing how things turn out in the end. This book has some events that leave a big impact on Vangie and I am excited to see what happens next. I really like Vangie, she feels so real and I like reading about her. I am looking forward to the next book!
When a book is a go-to when you want escape reading and you never want to put it down, it doesn’t surprise me to see it’s a five-star. I love that this one filled in some things about Vangie for you and delivered a good plot.
