My Review
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
I enjoyed this author’s RV romance series, so decided to give this new series a try. It’s a serialized series, so each book is on the shorter side. I knew beforehand what to expect, so that helped. This book was a solid set up for the series. It introduced the two main characters, their situation and then the whole situation with Caitlin inheriting the café and Greg the recipe book.
There is a hint of mystery and romance, but mostly it feels like Caitlin’s journey for a fresh start after losing her husband, job and house. Then there is Greg who is a writer, who is supposed to inherit the recipe book, but Caitlin has to give it to him. The inheritance situation was a bit convoluted, but I think there is a reason for that.
I liked getting to know both characters and they both have enough depth as well as history and personality. I look forward to seeing how things go between them in future books. I also liked how each of them has a close friend. The ending is a bit abrupt with a bit of a cliffhanger that is clearly designed to keep you reading, luckily I already have the next book.
To summarize: This was a solid start to this new series. I liked getting to know the characters and their situation before things change when Caitlin inherits the café and Greg the recipe book. It’s a serial, so each book is on the shorter side. The ending is a bit abrupt, but does make me curious for book 2, which I luckily already have.
I like trying authors other series, too, for that very reason of being familiar with their books. I love that there is a mystery involved.
Same here, it’s fun trying new series by authors I already know.
