My Review

I received a free copy from the author through Booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.

I really like this series and when I was in the mood for a comforting read I knew I would enjoy I picked this one up. I had fun reading this one, although it is also a bit sad at times as it deals with grief. The characters meets at a grief support group and form a connection after meeting there.

I thought it was good to see the topic of grief in this book and I appreciated how the author handled it. I could really feel the characters emotions and feelings of loss, I thought that was well written. There were some parts about how the characters experience grief and conversations they had about it that I thought were very well done. It touches well upon the experience of grief and how everyone handles it differently. I thought a lot of the sentiments felt very relatable and real as well as raw and emotional.

I liked these two together and seeing them grow closer. It was interesting how them both experiencing grief and talking openly about it with the other made a deep bond form quickly and I thought this felt realistic. I liked seeing them grow closer and fall in love. There are some great scenes with the two of them and I liked their banter.

There also was a plot line about Jack not being able to access his gargoyle form that was interesting and I liked the resolution and how that was handled. I also liked reading more about both gorgons and gargoyles in this book and a bit about how their magic worked. I liked how Rhea has two snakes in her hair, that was interesting.

To summarize: This was another great installment in this series. It had a fun and sweet romance, but also was a bit sad at times as it deals with grief. I thought the topic of grief was handled well and it was interesting to read about how the characters dealt with it and their conversations about it and the person they lost. I liked these two together and seeing them grow closer. I also enjoyed reading more about gargoyles and gorgons and their magic in this book.

    • It was fun to read about a gargoyle. It did feel realistic them connecting in grief counseling, interesting to hear your cousin met her new husband that way.
