Silver Heart

Blurb:
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when they must decide which road leads to personal happiness. For Dylan Silver, this is that moment…For the past twenty-two-years, Dylan has been living in her parents’ carefully crafted world, always putting her own dreams on hold to play the role of a dutiful daughter. When her best friend coaxes her into a winter getaway to a mountain resort, she sees it as a chance to forget about the responsibilities waiting for her at home. At least for a little while.
But then her past catches up to her—in the form of sexy snowboarder, Sawyer Carter. Six long years had passed since Dylan bid goodbye to the only boy she ever truly loved. Now he’s standing right in front of her, bringing up bittersweet memories and igniting suppressed desires as he dares her to be the person she has always wanted to be.
Dylan and Sawyer’s unexpected meeting is a second chance, but will a girl who doesn’t believe in fate and taking risks be able to overcome her fears of losing control and finally embrace the life she desperately wants?
Only one thing is certain: after a week in Whistler, Dylan’s world will never be the same.
My Review:
I bought this book after participating in a book blitz for it. I loved the beautiful winter pictures and this book sounded just awesome. For quite some time I forgot about this book again until I picked up the Untamed series which Victoria Green co-writes with Jinsey Reese. Thanks to me being stupid and forgetting my Kobo cable I couldn’t put the new episode on my e-reader and I decided to pick up Victoria’s other book instead.
I really enjoyed Silver Heart, it has a perfect combination of sweet and hot. I have a weakness for friends to lover’s story and I loved how that concept was incorporated in this book. The main character already share a past and know each other, which made the romance much more believable and realistic to me. There are some flashbacks to the past and they are done really well, giving the reader a sense of their past. I also liked how it was clear which parts where flashback and which parts weren’t.
I really enjoyed Victoria her writing style and I love how the romance and story are intertwined. While the focus is on the romance, there is quite some story and character background surrounding it as well. Also there is this scene where I thought the story would go in a direction I didn’t like, but I ended up loving how the author handled it and it was so real and believable and I enjoyed the situation didn’t get more drama then it required.
Silver and Sawyer are both great characters and together they are just awesome. Silver has been living under her parents thumb for so long and Sawyer encourages her to take risks and let go sometimes. She has been putting her passions aside for so long and it was great to see her change and figure out what she wanted in live and even found the courage to stand up towards her parents. Sawyer is a boy with a difficult past, but he’s doing really well. There is also a scene towards the end of the book where he made a decision that made me really like him. There are also some side characters, although the focus really is on Silver and Sawyer. I enjoyed the side plot with Preston and liked how the author handled the situation.
The romance is done really well. I loved Silver and Sawyer from the moment we first met them and they are so good together. Their relationship feels real and honest and I loved how there where both sweet and hot moments. The mix was done really well.
To conclude: I really enjoyed Silver Heart and I like this author’s writing style. The romance is hot and sweet and I liked both characters. The focus is on the romance, but there’s also enough story around it. I can’t wait to read more books from this author!

I love books where the drama isn’t OTT. For some reason I read the title and thought it would be a paranormal book so I was surprised to see it was contem. It sounds good, I’ll add it to my to read list 🙂

I think it would be a great read for winter, as I actually wanted to see some real snow while I was reading it. I haven’t read much books with a winter theme, so it was fun :). I hope you enjoy it as well.
