sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
There wasn’t a Sunday Post last week, so this oen will be a recap of the last two weeks. The last two weeks have been pretty busy, I have been applying for jobs again, had some work for Lola’s Blog Tours and visited my mom and Clemens last weekend. My mom lives with her husband on the other side of the country so we went there for a whole weekend, we went shopping, ate a lot of ice cream and visited an Aqua Zoo (which had a suprising amount of non aqua animals as well).

Then this week was pretty busy again, catching up on work and housework after being gone for the weekend and then preparing for the One Shot Fate Roleplay session on Friday. The session was a lot of fun. Then on Saturday I had an application at a fashion shop here close by, I really hope I get the job. The application went pretty well I think, I’ll hear in about a week whether I’ll get the job.

I have been doing a bit more blog commenting again lately and try to comment on a few blogs every day. It’s been a bit more quiet on the blog lately as I am signing up for less book blitzes and cover reveals. So it’s mostly reviews and because I don’t read that fast some days won’t have a post. For some reason I am just not in the mood to sign-up for too much promo tours, except for those for authors I already know.

Here in the Netherlands we’ve had some warm weather, it normally doesn’t get that warm here. It’s too hot foror my taste and I hope we get some cooler days soon. I’ve been making some simple recipes and have some salads planned for next week, as I hate cooking when it’s this warm.

So all in all these where okay weeks, even though a bit busy and warm.

Last two weeks I posted about:
Book Blitz: Goodness of Fit by Missy Marciassa
Review: Camp Payback (Camp Boyfriend #2) by Jk Rock

Three years have passed since Dare Wilde walked out of Reagan McKinley’s life. Three years of radio silence. Three years of regrets.

But she’s not the same girl anymore. Now, at twenty-two, Reagan has big plans to change her life, and it all starts with a trip to Europe. Instead of heading into Harvard Law like her parents had planned, she’s crossed the ocean to follow her dreams in the art world. Her dreams. For once.

A chance meeting in Paris brings Reagan and Dare face-to-face again, but is it serendipity…or penance? A chasm of unspoken hurt stands between them, but they can’t fight the passion they have for each other. And now that she’s found Dare again—the one person in this world who makes her feel whole—she doesn’t want to let go. Problem is, she may not have a choice.

Two parts. One whole.

Together…they’re out of control.

I already read and reviewed this book, I read it during the train travel to my mom’s. You can read my review of Out of Control here

Dare Wilde is out. The McKinley family has ruined his relationship with Reagan for the last time. He’s in Amsterdam, staying with his rock star brother Dash, ready to move on with his life and get Ree out of his head.

Finally, and for good. Problem is, he loves her.

So when fate leads Reagan to his door again, the two must decide whether their new-found love is worth the risk. Because two fractured parts can’t make a whole, and they must face the demons of Reagan’s past if they are to have a future together.

A muse and her artist. A star-crossed love.

Will the past catch up to them…or have they finally escaped?

After reading the first book in this series I just had to know what would happen next and I am so happy to have received the next two books for review. I already have read and reviewed the second book and I plan on reading this one soon.

Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold is the thrilling first installment in a new series of adventure mystery stories that are one part travel, one part history and five parts adventure. This first book of the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series introduces Kitty Hawk, an intrepid teenage pilot with her own De Havilland Beaver seaplane and a nose for mystery and intrigue. A cross between Amelia Earhart, Nancy Drew and Pippi Longstocking, Kitty is a quirky young heroine with boundless curiosity and a knack for getting herself into all kinds of precarious situations.

After leaving her home in the western Canadian fishing village of Tofino to spend the summer in Alaska studying humpback whales Kitty finds herself caught up in an unforgettable adventure involving stolen gold, devious criminals, ghostly shipwrecks, and bone-chilling curses. Kitty’s adventure begins with the lingering mystery of a sunken ship called the Clara Nevada and as the plot continues to unfold this spirited story will have armchair explorers and amateur detectives alike anxiously following every twist and turn as they are swept along through the history of the Klondike Gold Rush to a suspenseful final climatic chase across the rugged terrain of Canada’s Yukon, the harsh land made famous in the stories and poems of such writers as Jack London, Robert Service and Pierre Berton. It is a riveting tale that brings to glorious life the landscape and history of Alaska’s inside passage and Canada’s Yukon, as Kitty is caught up in an epic mystery set against the backdrop of the scenery of the Klondike Gold Rush.

Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold is a perfect book to fire the imagination of readers of all ages. Filled with fascinating and highly Google-able locations and history this book will inspire anyone to learn and experience more for themselves as Kitty prepares for her next adventure – flying around the world!

This sounds like such a great series and I can’t wait to dive into it!

The world of professional ballet is built on illusion. The illusion of perfection. The illusion of effortless beauty. The illusion of eternal love.

But backstage, few members of the Union Ballet Company suffer from such illusions.

Anna Glaser has dreamed of nothing but dancing professionally her entire life. And when she’s finally offered a position with Union, she takes it, giving little more than a passing thought to what she might have to give up in exchange. But Sebastian Kaplan, the director who gave her the chance, won’t forget so easily.

When Anna meets Cain, who has been dubbed by the local media as Union’s most eligible bachelor, she realizes that making a deal with the devil might mean that Heaven — in the form of a gorgeous dark-haired man — is forever out of her reach.

Dancers at Union know that something that glitters and shines under the stage lights can still be vicious and evil when the lights go down.

Adagio is the first episode in the series The Company – an engaging drama-filled ride through the darker parts of the ballet and the lives of those who live to dance.

Blurb:
It has been centuries since Earth was rendered a barren, volatile wasteland. With their homeworld left uninhabitable, humanity founded a system of colonies throughout their local solar system. Known as the Kepler Circuit, these settlements are strung together by a network of nonaligned Solar-Ark transports, locked in continuous motion. They have served to provide an influx of resources to every faction ruling over the remnants of humankind, most importantly the newly discovered element Gravitum which is found only in the Earth’s unstable mantle.

By 500 K.C. a religious sect known as the New Earth Tribunal has risen to preside over most of The Circuit. Though there is barely a faction left remaining to challenge them, a string of attacks on their transports force them to summon the enigmatic, yet brilliant, Cassius Vale for help. What they don’t know is that together with his intelligent android creation, ADIM, he is the one orchestrating the raids.

His actions lead to the involvement of Sage Volus, a beautiful Tribunal Executor sent by her masters to spy on their mortal enemies – the Ceresian Pact. In order to find out who is behind the attacks, she infiltrates the ranks of a roguish mercenary named Talon Rayne. Against all her intentions, however, she finds her faith tested by him and his ragtag squad.

While Sage and Talon are engaged in a futile hunt, Cassius Vale initiates his strategy to bring down the narrow-minded Tribune once and for all. But will anyone be able to survive what he has in store for the Circuit?

Remember how some time ago I mentioned I was planning on reading more sci-fi books and I even added the genre to my review policy list of genre’s I accept. Well when i received the review request for this sci-fi book I just knew I had to try it!

    • Thanks Jeann! I really hope I get the job, it’s a pretty good job. It’s close by where I live, it pays well and it’s parttime. I can’t wait to hear back from them in the next week.
Yeah the weather has been unbearable hot for the past few days, we’re not used to this heat and most houses in the Netherlands don’t have airconditioning. I hope it get’s a bit cooler soon!

    • Yeah I am so tired of job searching, so i realy hope I get this job. It pays well, is parttime and close by, so that will still leave me enough time to read, work on Lola’s Blog Tours, blog and tend to my rats :). We could use some more rain over here, we got some rain last night, but it only cooled down by a few decress, so it’s still really warm. I prefer spring, when it isn’t too warm and not too cold either. I can’t stand it when it’s eiter too cold or too warm.

  1. I have my fingers and toes crossed you can find a job, I know how hard it is. It seems no place has enough jobs for everyone.

It has been so gross here in the US. Hot and sticky this week was nice and cool finally. I am more of a Fall, Spring girl and I hate the summer. I only enjoy it if I am in a pool otherwise I spend all my time inside…reading 🙂

Enjoy all your new reads and Have a great week Lola 🙂

    • That’s why I am hoping I get this job, as they are actually hiring multiple people. There are so many jobless people here nowadays, it’s sad.

I am more a spring and fall girl as well. I can’t stand when it’s too hot, but I also get it cold very easily and don’t like when it’s too cold. Although i do enjoy sitting outside when it’s summer, but only as long as the temperatures aren’t too high. We have a balcony that only has sun in the morning, so usually it’s pretty cool there.

I am really excited to dive into some of my new books 🙂

    • I’ve been job searching for a total of two years now, with some periods in between where I didn’t search. So I realy hope I get this job! Getting the job interview is one of the difficults things already, but I am always afraid I say somethign wrong during the interview. I think this one did go well though :).

I already read Out of Control and Escaped Artist and it’s a hot series indeed, but there’s enough story and sweet moments as well. I really love the series!

    • It’s on netgalley, so if you want to you can request it. I got it for review for the blog tour, I am looking forward to reading it!
      Thanks for stopping by :D!

    • Thanks Trish :). I haven’t read any dance books that I can remember, but I thought the blurb for this one sounded really good and I am all for trying out books with subject I haven’t yet read about! My review for Adagio will be posted late august during the blog tour :).
