sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week was super busy and stressfull. Thuesday was Snicker her surgery, in the morning I brought her to the vet (I was way too early because I was so nervous). Then I left her there and went home. I tried to do some work and took a shower and then at 11 o’clock we got the call that everything was okay and we could come and get Snickers again. I was so relieved! It was like this huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. We ate lunch and then went to get Snickers.

Her fur has been shaven away where the tumor had been and she has stitches, frankly it looks a bit creepy, but I am so glad to have her home again. Then when we put her back in the cage with the other rats, they all acted a bit weird. Snickers wanted some peace and quiet and the other rats where really interested in her. And Pita even had her fur standing weird, like cats sometimes do when they feel threatened. So we washed Snickers and put her back in the cage when we had diner. Then when we got her out, some of the stitches had gone loose. I almost fainted as it looked really bad and we could see her flesh through the open piece. It looked horrible, so in panic we called the vet. The where almost closing and told me to take some pictures of the wound, so we did. Well apparently it wasn’t as bad as we thought, the vet said the wound looked clean and to keep her apart from the other rats. So she slept in the pet carrier next to our bed.

The next morning I called the vet again and she told me to visit to make sure the wound looked good. The vet again told me the wound looked clean, but gave me some antibiotics as with the wound slightly open the risk of infection is bigger. She also said to keep Snickers seperate from the other rats for a week, we don’t have a sick ratty cage so we use the pet carrier as temporary cage for Snickers. Most of the day Snickers sits with me and in the nights the pet carrier is next to our bed.

She didn’t eat or drink a lot the first few days, so we kept forcing her to drink. And it also was a struggle to have her take her medicines. She did lick the antibiotics from our fingers, but she didn’t like the painkiller. The painkillers smelled really strongly, so even mixed through other food she could still smell it. So far it seems she’s recovering nicely, the wound is closing already and she is acting normal. Next theusday or wednesday she can go back to her cage again, so let’s hope that goes well.

Beside that not a lot happened, everything was about Snickers and she required quite some attention, especially the firts few days. Also some things like doing the the laundry is a lot more difficult with a rat in your sleeves. It was a tiresome week, but I am so glad Snickers seems to be doing fine. I didn’t got a lot of reading done and I feel a bit bad about that as I have some review books I really should be reading. I also haven’t been that active online, I hardly did any blog commenting and haven’t been as active on social media as normal. I think I even forgot to promote some posts. I’ll tryo to do some blog commenting today and I hope next week I’ll be more active online again.

Blurb:
Rich, beautiful, and wild, Reagan McKinley has everything she needs…but nothing that she wants. That is, until she spends one hot night in the arms of sexy, unbridled Dare Wilde.

She’s a girl trapped in a rigid world she desperately wants to escape, and he’s an untamed artist with an attitude, hell-bent on freeing her—body, mind, and soul. But Reagan’s life is not her own, and Dare is not welcome in it. She can’t include him in her carefully-controlled, extremely public lifestyle…and yet she cannot give him up.

Will a shared passion for art—and, increasingly, each other—be enough to keep them together? Or will it be the thing that ultimately tears them apart?

It’s hot. It’s sexy.

It’s UNTAMED.

When nineteen-year-old Kaliope is chosen as head of the Nactue Guard, she becomes the sworn protector to her empress. In the midst of an invasion on a neighboring land, Kaliope is placed in charge of guarding Prince Caben, the last heir to his kingdom. But when they’re attacked by the feared Otherworlders, Caben and Kaliope are abducted and taken below to a realm where they must fight for their life in a caged arena.

Kaliope struggles to protect her princely charge, keeping him and herself alive while battling inhumanly opponents, and trying to save the stolen, sacred relic that will restore her empress’s life force and all of Cavan. 1. I’m glad to know Snickers is better – maybe the others acted weird because of the smells of medicines used at the vet’s ? That’s why it was safer to keep her apart for some time. I bet you’re really relieved by now ! Have a great week, hun 😉

    • Yeah we did wash her because we thought it might be the smell, but even after washing they acted a bit weird. She did smeel a bit weird for some time.
Now the other rats do act normal again, but they are still very interested in the wound, so we keep them apart for a little longer. When we’re sure the wound is closed, she can go back to the cage with the other rats.

    • Thanks Dre! I am really happy she’s doing okay.
And yeah I got some awesoem books this weeks, now hope soon I have actually some time to read them. I read around 60 pages this week, not making much progress.

  2. So glad Snickers is feeling better! It’s so rough when a pet is sick.
Sometimes I think it always looks worse then it is when they shave them. They did that to out cat and shaved her entire face and she had stitches on her eyes (she had eye surgery) and she looked like she had long eye lashes and her face was shaved to her ears. It looks so weird lol.

Hope she is able to join her other rat friends soon back in the cage 🙂

    Have a great week!!!

    • Yeah it’s been stressfull week. I still worry about her and probably will until she’s fully healed. Yeah that shaved off place looks really weird. I think they shave it because that makes it easier to do the surgery? But yeah due to the shaved off part, it’s even more obvious something happened there.

    • I hope the rest of her healing goes smoothly, we’re extra carefull now with her around the other rats, to make sure her stitches don’t get loose anymore.

    • Did your dog recover okay? And indeed having a pet in surgery is really stressful. Before the surgery i thought the surgery itself would be the only stressful part, I was so focussed on the surgery that I didn’t think of what would happen next.

  3. I think it is because Snickers smelled differently when she came back from the vets that the others acted funny. She could have even smelled of other animals (as there are obviously a lot of other animals’ smells at the vets). It’s actually a good idea to take pictures and send them to the vet for them to assess it – it would probably be more distressing to take her to the vet.
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

    • Yeah we probably should’ve washed her before putting her together with the other rats. As this is our first time one of our rats needed surgery we didn’t knew that, I guess we learned that for if there’s a next time.
And eventually we still went to the vet the next day, but it is handy to be able to send them pictures if you have a small questions. Less time, stress and money.
