sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?
This week started out horrible and busy. On Monday I had to go to the dentist. I had a total of around 13 cavities in 7 different teeth and all the cavities on the right side are fixed now. I hate going to the dentist and I was so happy when it was over. Unfortunately when I got home my mouth was still numb from the anesthesia, so my lunch consisted of drink yoghurt and small pancakes. For some reason the numbness stays really long with me, only after 4.5 hours the numbness finally went away, just in time for dinner.

Here is a picture of my drink yoghurt lunch:

On Theusday I had a job interview. Let me start by stating that I always plan a trip like this really well and I have a good sense of direction. Well guess what everythign went wrong and I got lost. First i sat in the wrong train (due to my own stupidity as I read the print-out wrong and I had to switch trains instead of keep sitting in the one I was). So i arrived at the station late and due t that missed one of the busses I was supposed to have. Then I had to wait a long time for a bus to arrive and then when I arrived at the right street, the company building was nowhere to be found. So I started following the road, as I knew I was on the right road and it had to be nearby. I asked 2 people for directions, who both never had heard of one of the biggest online stores in the Netherlands and had no clue where the compnay building was located and both send me in the wrong direction. When I finally found someone who actually knew the company and where it was located I found out I was on the total wrong side of the road and the road is a few kilometres long. She did point me to a bus station and I eventually arrived at the job interview, 30 minutes late instead of 30 minutes early. The job interview went kay I guess, but I still felt bad after being lost and I was a rattled from the whole experience and I think if I had arrived on time the job interview would have gone better. The only good thing is that the yourney back home went smoothly without any issues.

The rest of the book was less busy, but I still felt like I had so many things to do and didn’t have a lot of time for reading. And I am trying something something new again for my book haul.
I also cleaned my desk again, so it’s finally clean and non-clustered again

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

A life not her own—A future already decided.

Every facet of Ivy Pierce’s life is meticulously planned out and plotted. Cynical and jaded by sixteen, Ivy’s only hope is to escape the legacy she was born into.

She has a plan, a carefully thought out, feasible plan. She just has to play by the rules until everything falls into place. Unfortunately as predictable as her life can be, she never sees Ryder Sutton coming. He tumbles into her life unimpressed and untouched by her and the life she lives. He’s an enigma to her. A gorgeous, frustrating, sincere mystery and a complete phenomenon in the ugly world she lives in.

What blooms between them is a fiercely intense attraction that cannot be ignored. Even though they would both be better off without each other—Even if both their lives depend on staying apart.

I’ve battled the Reapers of Chaos before–and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it’s going to be a fight to the death … most likely mine.

Yeah, I’ve got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic–and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side, in Logan freaking Quinn, but I’m no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike’s Champion, but at heart, I’m still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good … or I am.

  1. Oh, Lola! I felt bad about your traveling to the interview. It sucks when I become lost looking for a new destination (not so much when I am just exploring a new city when traveling), I guess scouting the place beforehand would help. 🙂

The Rush seems like a good book to read. I’ve only read JLA’s Lux, maybe I should check TDE, too 🙂

    Have a good one!

    • Yeah getting lost really sucks and I panicked as I never get lost and then when it happens it’s even worse. I don’t mind getting lost a bit when exploring a new city when traveling, that even can be fun, as you have nowhere to be on time.

I saw The Rush featured on someone’s blog as a free book and I just had to grab my copy, it sounds really good. And I now have both the prequel and the first book in the TDE series, so I hope I have time to read them soon! And I really have to catch-up on JLA books, I am behind on all her series.

    • I just hate job interviews and getting lost and being late make it even worse. In the next few days I’ll hear if I am through to the next round or not. Let’s hope this week will be better.

  2. I hate going to the dentist, too! This week, I had my annual physical and I don’t enjoy that, either, but the dentist wins hands down on sheer torture. How horrible that you had such a nightmare searching for your interview. After that ordeal, of course you are out of sorts.

Enjoy your new books, and hope this week goes well. Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

    • I hate going to the dentist or to the doctor. I know it’s nessecary sometimes, but I still hate going. Let’s hope this week will be better!

    • This job interview was in a big city, so easy to get lost there. And the bus stations was super big and I couldn’t find the bus I needed at first. I don’t travel much either, although usually I can still find my way due to good planning, I think this time the planning went a bit wrong as I planned the yourney right after returning from the dentist.

  3. 🙁 so sorry about getting lost and having a bad start to your week. I hate the dentist! HATE IT. I also get very numb for a very long time.

You have quite a few good reads this week! Great haul!

Hope this week starts out better for you

    Happy reading!

    • Yeah same here, I just hate the dentist. I am always so scared before going and so relieved after it’s finally over. I really hope this week will be better!

  4. I hate the dentist with a passion and usually pay extra to be ‘taken out’ on sedation. Best thing ever! Did you hear from the interview yet. It’s what I call sod’s law. And believe me, if you would have left extra extra early you’d be standing on their front door for 2 hours and would’ve found it straight away. I like the look of White Hot Kiss, though it’s not my usual genre.
Have a great week and Happy Reading!

    • I should hear back about the interview early this week. And my mom said to leave earlier next time for an interview, but I don’t want to waste a whole hour by being way too early. I had planned to be there half an hour early and I think that should be enough. I hope you have great weekend!

    • Unfortunately I still have two dentist appointments to go to this month :(, one for cleaning my teeth and the other for fixing the cavities on the other side. Not looking forward to those at all. That issues with your meds sounds weird, I wonder why these things work longer for some people.

    • I hate the drill part the most, it also hurts my ears. I have pretty sensetive ears and that drill makes a lot of noise. I will be really happy when my next two appointments are over, then I can stay away from there for half a year!
