sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty decent week. It was a pretty productive week and I got a lot of work done. And it was my birthday this week. The weather has been cooler this week and it almost feels like autumn, the last few years I remember it being super hot on my birthday so this was a nice change.

It was my birthday this week. I actually didn’t really do much special on the day itself and just did some work and the other usual things. I did make a dish I liked for dinner and I ordered some pie. I didn’t feel like baking something myself so I ordered a banana pie online, it tasted great. I included a picture of the pie below. My sister also sent us brownies in the post, which was a fun surprise.

My boyfriend’s parents shortly stopped by for a socially distanced visit outside of our house this week to drop some stuff off and catch up for a bit.

It was a good week for work. I put a new bookstagram blitz live on my site. A tour I organized started this week, so I did some work for that. And I’ve been emailing with some authors for other possible tours, worked on another new tour and did other admin/ email work. I also finished up assistant work for some of my authors for this month and for 2 others I still have a bit to do on Monday.

What did I read this week?

Lending a PawMy Steadfast KnightGatebreaker

Lending a Paw was a fun cozy mystery. I liked the theme of a bookmobile and the cat Eddie was fun, but the mystery didn’t fully work for me. My Steadfast Knight was another great read in that series, this was a tough book to read at times, but it was great to see the female main character change over the course of the book. Gatebreaker has an interesting plot, the magic was cool and I liked the whole stuck in another world concept, but the story didn’t fully grab me, I didn’t connect to the characters as much, I didn’t feel the romance and would’ve liked more world building.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Wild Skye by Zaya Feli
Review: Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon
Lola’s Kitchen: Udon Noodles with Vegetables Recipe

I got the three audiobooks for review from Tantor Audio. I was so excited when these arrived as these are the first audio review copies I received through them. I already listened to a good chunk of A Cop and a Coop.

  1. Happy birthday Lola!! Sounds like you had a nice time and some yummy treats. I’m glad you got some cooler weather too – great birthday present ♥️.

    Have a great week!

  2. So glad the cooler weather suits you better – and you’re right – it’s been the coolest end of August weather we’ve had for a while. It certainly does feel as if summer is coming to an end. Glad it was a really good week for you workwise, especially as it was your birthday – belated wishes! That banana pudding looks yummy:)). I hope the coming week is also a good one for you, Lola.

    • It really feels like the end of summer already, while the past few years the end of August was still pretty warm. The banana pie was really good.

    • It sure was a low-key fun week :). I was so excited to receive the Tantor listen. I already finished one of them and just requested two more.
