sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a busy and tiring week. It was a busy week and I didn’t sleep well and that caused me to be even more tired. It also was a busy week with work. I did some hours assistant work and some tour work, 3 media kits for tours starting next week went out and I put a new sign-up post live and am working on a few more sign-up posts. I still have some things I had hoped to do that i didn’t get to, but the most important things got done.

My sister and her boyfriend visited this week. She brought some great cupcakes and some presents for my birthday. We had a fun time chatting, drinking tea and eating the cupcakes.

I went on a book buying spree this week and spent some of my birthday money, I bought a bunch of books and then there was a non-fiction book sale at the end of this week and I grabbed some more books. I also got two review books. Which results in a massive book haul this week.

What did I read this week?

Kill The QueenRelic of SorrowsMortal Trinity

It was a good reading week with 3 solid 4 star reads that I finished. Kill the Queen was a great action packed fantasy read and the narrator did a fantastic job. I still haven’t gotten around to reviewing it yet. Relic of Sorrows is the fourth book in this series and I thoroughly enjoyed it with the find the treasure type of storyline. Mortal trinity is the seventh in last book in this amazing pirate fantasy series and this last book was probably the best one of all. More emotional than previous books and it brought the whole series to a satisfying conclusion.

This week I blogged about:

Review: Tails From the Deep by Diane Vallere

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Mortal Trinity by Kelly St Clare
– Review: Rival Princes by Jaxon Knight
– Review: First Flyght by S.J. Pajonas

Book Haul:

Scavenger PrincessProphecy of ConvergenceThe Uninvited CorpseArkadian SkiesVerity StrangeSpellbinding his RangerA Royal Guide to Monster HuntingAt Wits' EndJOMOTaming Demons for BeginnersGotta Read ItKilling it on KoboYour A Game

Some of these are books I had on my wishlist for a while or by authors I know and I splurged on buying some books with my birthday money. Scavenger Princess is set in Carysa Locke’s telepathic space pirates world and I can’t wait to read this one. I liked the sound of Prophecy of Convergence so I grabbed a copy, this is a new to me author. The Uninvited Corpse was discounted and sounded like a solid cozie, also a new to me author. Arkadian Skies is the next book in the Fallen Empire series I am enjoying. Verity Strange I bought as I enjoyed books by this author and hope to binge read this series soon. I liked the sound of Spellbinding his Ranger, with romance, sci-fi and litrpg aspects. A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying is Kelley Armstrong’s newest release and I like what I heard of this one so far and it’s been awhile since I read one of her books. At Wits’ End is a cozy mystery that’s been on my wishlist for a while, the idea of an ufo themed bed and breakfast just sounds so fun.
JOMO and Taming Demons for Beginners I got for review. JOMO I requested form netgalley as it sounded like an interesting non-fiction book. Taming Demons for Beginners is a spin-off from the author’s guild codex series and I am excited to read this one. Gotta Read It, Killing it on Kobo and Your A Game were all only 99 cents as part of the non-fiction book sale. These sounded informative so I bought them.

Which books did you get this week?

  1. Yes, business is booming and its great that you’re keeping up with your work projects. Yay for a birthday visit and the chance to shop for your birthday.
Looks like you have a nice book haul. I’ll have to check out the non-fic sale. I need to read more of those. Hope your new series from Kelley Armstrong and Alissa Woods turns out good as well as your new to me authors.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Thanks! This week was not much better in terms of sleep, but hopefully next week is. I am looking forward to all the new books I bought.

    • That’s great you got some books you requested on Netgalley, I am always happy when I get those approved e-mails. I hope you have a great visit with your brother and his new girlfriend.

  2. What a fabulous book haul! I love the look of the new Kelley Armstrong:)). I also recently had a book buying spree after having birthday money:))

Glad that your business is doing so very well, but I hope you aren’t working too hard. It’s always a balance when self employed, isn’t it? Have a great week and I hope that you manage to get some rest:).

    • That’s great you also had a book buying spree after having birthday money. Happy belated birthday. The new Kelley Armstrong book sounds quite exciting, I hope it’s a good one.

I try to find a good balance with not working too hard so I slowed down a bit on some tasks. Finding that balance when self employed definitely is one of the hardest things.

  3. Oooh, I’m so jealous you snagged a copy of Taming Demons For Beginners!! I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER for another guild codex book and I’m so excited for this sister series! I did grab the sample chapters from bookfunnel but I’m too scared to read them as I know it’ll make the wait worse… I’ll read them the night before the book releases to give me a headstart on the book without having another two weeks wait to continue! lol
