sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a decent week. It was a pretty productive week in terms of work. A bookstagram blitz I organized started this week, so I did some work on that as well as my usual assistant work.

This week went pretty okay, but I had a few setbacks later in the week, but once I got through that I was doing better again. I am still hopeful I am doing well to get out of my funk, it’s just slow going. I managed to get out again most days for a walk. Most days I tend to walk through the small park close by and I love seeing all the nature. There are also some sheep in the neighborhood that I like to walk by. They’re so cute! There was a bit of rain again and I went out in the rain a few times, but luckily it didn’t rain too hard. And there was a bit more sun and slightly warmer weather this week, which was nice.

Last Sunday we went out for lunch with most of the family to celebrate my grandma’s 85 birthday. It was fun to see everyone again and catch up, although due to the big table we had I mostly only spoke to a few people.

I finished an ebook and an audiobook this week and already started a new audiobook too. I also started on the Mindfulness and Meditation book I got for review last week. And I played some Islanders and Hidden Folks this week. Both are awesome games, fun and relaxing.

We’re now watching The Orville season 2 and are almost done with that. I really like this series, it’s funny and lighthearted in tone, but also addresses some interesting topics.

What did I read this week?

Something Borrwed, Something mewed'Twas the Knife Before Christmas

I finished two cozy mysteries this week. Something Borrowed, Something Mewed was the next book in one of my favorite cozy mystery series and it was awesome. I really liked the mystery and also the other plot lines. There was a great twist at the end. ‘Twas the Knife Before Christmas I listened to on audio just like I did with the first book, it was a great sequel. Solid mystery and fun characters.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Kitty Confidential by Molly Fitz
Review: Purple Haze by Kelly Jensen

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Grenville by JC Hay
– Lola’s Kitchen: Bean Mix with bacon Recipe

Down in FlamesStrangled Eggs and HamMade For You

All 3 I got for review through Netgalley. The two cozy mystery books are both series I am following and I kept an eye on Netgalley hoping they the next book would show up and this week they did. I requested them as soon as I spotted the books and got approved for both! Made For You is the second book in the Love and Family series by Anyta Sunday, I just started reading book 1 in the series and noticed book 2 was still up on Netgalley even tough it released earlier this month, so I requested it and got accepted for a copy. I am already curious about Jack’s story even tough he’s only a side character in Taboo For You.

What’s your favorite type of animals?

    • I also love animals in general. I never heard of of flying foxes before, but they sure are cute. we have some bats around here, you can see them flying around when it’s almost dark sometimes.

  1. Glad the week went much better for you and you had a good time celebrating your gran’s birthday. I didn’t fit in as many walks this past week because we had cold days and rain most days, but I do enjoy them when I can.
Nice to see you enjoying your latest cozy mystery picks. Your new Anyta Sunday reminds me that I haven’t tried her books in a while. Hope this new series is a good one for you.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • It’s more fun to walk when the weather’s good. I hope you get some dry and warmer days soon.

I enjoy Anyta Sunday’s books so far, her Signs of Love series is really good. And I enjoyed Taboo For You as well. I am looking forward to reading the sequel soon.

    • I really like seeing the sheep, they’re so cute! It was nice to see my family and my grandma said she had fun.

That’s awesome Hoopla has the Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus series! I hope you’ll enjoy them! Let me know what you think of them if you decide to listen to the series :). The first 4 books are in audio, I think book 4 is releasing soon or just released.

  2. I love animals! Except snakes, but I think most people know that about me. I prefer dogs over cats, as I’m allergic to cats, and I love foxes and owls too. Sheep are pretty great too. Looks like you had a productive week with reading!

    • I also love animals and sheep are some of my favorite animals. So I am happy we have some sheep close by that I can visit.

That’s too bad you’re allergic to cats. I love both cats and dogs, but always used to be afraid of dogs. I am currently working through that a bit, as in the park there are a lot of dogs too, so I try to observe them and interact with them now and then. It’s already helping a bit and I met some great dogs already.

    • Thanks! That’s also part of the reason I started my daily walks, to help me get out of this funk and get less stressed. So far I think it’s helping. I hope your walks help you!

    • Thanks! I think she had a great time at the lunch :). I am glad to be doing a bit better and hope I can kick the funk altogether soon. Focusing on small steps seems to help a bit.

    • I think she had a great time :). I hope the progress out of the funk progresses, even tough it’s slow going. I also love dogs, they are full of life.
