sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Itโ€™s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty busy and productive week. Not too bad of a week, but mostly focused on work with a few fun things mixed in. I finished the work for my authors for whom I do assistant work as it was the end of the month. I put a new sign-up post for a blitz live and a tour I organized is still running.

On Tuesday I went out for lunch with my mom. First we stopped by her new house, which looked great. Then we walked a bit through the city and had lunch there. We both went for American pancakes with whipped cream and red fruits, which were delicious. And we had a smoothie made of apples, oranges and lemon, which was great too. We talked and walked a bit more, had some ice cream and then I went home again.

We had some really warm weather for this time of the year this week. It almost feels like spring already, which is nice, but also a bit weird. Although this weekend it’s a bit colder again and it almost feels like autumn.

I finished an audiobook this week and two books. And I started a new audiobook which is a re-read. I also wrote two recipe posts this week. I’ve spaced them out, so I have one per month scheduled for now.

And I tried some new products again this week from my supermarket. Last week I bought beet bread, which was great, so this week I bought carrot bread to try out too. It was good, but doesn’t really taste like carrots. And they had these pita breads, but then with veggies, of which we tired the red bell pepper and beet variation, both were really good.

What did I read this week?

Murder's a WitchJunkyardFairer Hex

Murder’s a Witch I struggled to get into, but once I was into the story I ended up enjoying it. Junkyard was a fun prequel novella, the first book I read by this author and I started book 1 right after it. The Fairer Hex fell flat for me, I really wanted to like it, but it felt both not in depth enough and like nothing was happening at the same time. I just never grew to care about the characters.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

My Moved mY Goat Cheese, Death by Sea and a A Killing by the Sea were all 99 cents and I’ve been in a cozy mood lately, so I bought these. Bookbub Ads Excerpt I bougth on release day as I enjoyed another non-fiction book by this author and I know nothing about Bookbub ads, so I thought it would be interesting to read about that. Silent Bud Deadly and Arctic Sun I got for review. Silent Bud Deadly is the second book in this new series by HY Hanna, book 1 was great and I hope book 2 is too. Arctic Sun is by an author I heard many good things about and I liked the sound of it, so I signed-up to be part of the blog tour.

  1. I didn’t know there was a difference between American pancakes and other pancakes? Also that sounds like an interesting smoothie! I’ve never had one with those flavors. And I love the sound of all these different breads you’re trying. I love bread and I love veggies, so I imagine combining them would be good lol. Yay for having such good ratings for the books you read in Feb!

    • Yes here pancakes are usually a lot flatter and are baked in butter. The recipe for American ones is slightly different I think and they are smaller, but higher. They also taste very differently. I think many countries have their own version of pancakes, I remember I once found an oven pancake recipe too.

I am so glad my supermarket added these exciting new products. The veggie breads are great with how they’re different, but still bread as well. And the pita breads were really good too.

  2. Another week that sounded all around good. Fun day out with your mom. The food sounds yummy. I enjoy any type of fruit on pancakes with whipped cream so you made me hungry. ๐Ÿ™‚ The carrot bread sounds good. Neat how you’re trying different products at the store.
Way to go getting all your work done.
Your stats look good with both books for review and personal picks in your reading pile and a variety of mystery and romance. I like Amanda Ranconi’s narration work.
I had my eye on that Annabeth Alpert book so I’ll look forward to getting your thoughts on it.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I actually rarely eat pancakes with whipped cream and fruit, but it was really good. I always like it when our supermarket adds new products and I like trying them out.

I always like seeing my monthly stats. I had to get used to Amanda Ranconi’s narration work at first, but by the end of the book I was quite enjoying it and I plan to continue the series. I heard great things about Annabeth Albert, so I hope I’ll enjoy it, but so far it’s just an okay read.

  3. You had a great week the time with your mom sounds like fun. I love Pancakes the fluffier the better. ๐Ÿ™‚
9 books is great. My feb is always a slow reading month but since March is longer, I am hoping to read a lot.

I never had beet bread or Carrot bread. Maybe it didn’t have enough carrot in it. My favorite is either Banana Nut or Cranberry Orange Bread! ๐Ÿ™‚ or Muffin Loaf because it’s like muffin mix in loaf form.

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! xx

    • I had fun spending time with my mom. And I love pancakes, these were very good.

February was a bit lower than normal for me too I think. Those few days February is missing really feels like a lot somehow.

I think it had 45% carrot in it, but I think carrot just doens’t taste as strongly. It’s still good tough.

    • My sister has made carrot cake a few times and I quite like it, although carrot cake tastes more like carrot than these breads do. Nice you also had some pancakes last week.

  4. Oh look! You read JUNKYARD! I need to finish my current read so that I can move on to that. I haven’t picked up my Kindle in a week. ๐Ÿ™ I’ve just been too busy with work. But I’m hoping to read this coming weekend while my family goes skiing. I really need a vacation!

    • I am so happy I decided to pick up this series thanks to your post about it as it’s really good so far :). I am now reading Fractured Stars. Junkyard was a fun novella and I liked seeing how she got her dog. I hope you can read it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I really like pancakes, so it was great to have them for lunch. Same here, I love breads and trying different types they have. And I like trying new products in general, so I couldn’t resist trying these.
