sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

I hope everyone had a great Christmas if you celebrated. We visited my boyfriend’s parents and celebrated there with presents and good food. On Christmas day we stayed home, I took a day off from work and we had a nice relaxing day and gamed a lot. I also made beer bread again this weekend, this time with cashews in it.

I mostly focused on assistant work this week and I did a bit of the usual Lola’s Blog Tours work. It was still a productive week, but I also made sure to have some extra free time, which was nice.

I have my best books from 2019 post all written and scheduled for next week and hope I can still write my 2019 goal post. I am curious to see how I did with my 2018 goals too, so I’ll add that in the same post. And I hope to write my stats post for 2019 next year, that’s one of the posts I am most excited about as I am curious to see my reading stats for the whole year.

What did I read this week?

Last Ship Off Polaris GThe Shadowed Crown

Last Ship Off Polaris G was great, I just love this series and this short story was a great read. I liked the main characters and how we got to see a bit more about some minder powers we haven’t heard as much about in the full length books. The Shadowed Crown was a great solid sequel and I really like seeing where the story goes.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Bread with veggie burger and baked red bell pepper
  • Spiced Pointed Cabbage with tofu and noodles
  • Pumpkin Tomato Soup

This week I blogged about:

Review: Full Moons, Dunes and Macaroons by Erin Johnson
Review: Dead in the Garden by Dahlia Donovan

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Lola’s Ramblings: Best Books of 2019
– Lola’s Ramblings: 2019 goal post and how I did with my 2018 goals
– Review: The Horse Mistress Book 4 by R.A. Steffan

  1. Glad you had a good Christmas, I tried to relax a lot more this time. I needed the break to be honest. It was nice and I am feeling rather refreshed! πŸ™‚ I am looking forward to getting back to blogging and designing.

I am hoping to get more stats up this year. I didn’t keep track last year and I think that would be such a fun post to do. I will have to figure out how to keep track of everything. πŸ™‚

Deck of Souls cover is gorgeous! I need to check that one out. I totally based that on the cover. πŸ™‚

I hope you have a fantastic week, Lola! Happy New Year! xx

    • I enjoyed relaxing a bit during Christmas. I am glad to hear you tried to relax more this Christmas and that’s you’re feeling refreshed now.

I keep track of all my books I read in a document and then can look back once the year it’s finished, it’s so fun to see all the different stats. I still have to compile my stats post, hopefully this weekend.

I agree the cover for Deck of Souls is so pretty! I hope the book is good too. I think it’s in KU, so you might be able to get it that way.

  2. That sounds like a lovely Christmas with your boyfriend’s folks and then some down time for just the two of you at home. Glad you got to enjoy your gaming and some baking. I like the idea of putting cashews into the bread. We went to visit my husband’s family on Christmas Eve and video chatted with mine Christmas afternoon.
Last Flight was a favorite of mine, too. I looked it up to see some more details about it and apparently it was supposed to be the only Central Galactic Concordance book, but she liked the worldbuilding and decided to go on and write the whole series. Thank goodness for that. πŸ˜‰

Looking forward to your Best of posts and thoughts on your past year stats and new goals.

Have a great New Year’s, Lola!

    • It was a great Christmas :). And I am happy I got to do some gaming and baking. The cashews in the bread turned out really good, it gave the bread some extra flavor. Sounds like you had a fun Christmas too.

I didn’t know that Last Ship was supposed to be the only book in the series. I am so glad she made a series out of it.

  3. Well I won’t do anything special really. Just with my family all in our best pajama and playing games πŸ˜‰ I hope you’ll have lots of fun Lola!

  4. It’s great you are able to do so well with life balance. It’s a necessary skill.

I’m finishing up challenge stuff. I’m doing some sewing – flannel pajama pants and flannel pillowcases. I finished knitting a hat yesterday so I’m going to cast on a cashmere cowl today. Tomorrow I’m going to read and probably listen while doing more knitting or sewing. Happy New Year! Anne – Books of My Heart

    • I agree it’s definitely a necessary skill and it took me a while to get the balance right.

That sounds fun! I didn’t realize you could make flannel pajama’s yourself. I hope you had a fun New Year’s eve!
