sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

I wrote a discussion post! That’s big news to me as I can’t even remember my previous discussion post. I suddenly had inspiration and managed to make the time to write it, so now I have a discussion post planned for next week :D. I also started drafting another discussion post and wrote a few ideas out for another discussion post. I just need to find the time to finish them. And the strange thing is that I am actually a bit nervous about posting a discussion post now that I haven’t done one in a long time.

It was a pretty okay week, it was a pretty standard week. We’re having some warm weather here, which makes sleeping a bit difficult at times. And I had two headaches this week, which was annoying. I got quite some work done. I did some extra hours of assistant work this week above my standard hours. We’re currently watching The Orville, which is pretty fun so far. And we did a bit of gaming as well.

What did I read this week?

Captured by DragonsBonbons and Broomsticks

Both were fun read. Captured by Dragons wasn’t fully the right book for my mood, but there were a lot of things I liked and a few that didn’t quite work for me. Bonbons and Broomsticks was exactly the type of read I was looking for and I really enjoyed it.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: The Mermaid’s return by Kellie McAllen
Lola’s Kitchen: Chunky Cookies with Pecan and Chocolate

What to expect next week on the blog:

– Review: Captured by Dragons by Lidiya Foxglove

Book Haul:

Complete Horse MistressTaboo for YouCompelled by the Vampire

The complete collection of the Horse Mistress series I won in a giveaway. This author and series has been on my radar for a while now and I was so excited to win a copy. Taboo For You was only 99 cents so I grabbed a copy, the two books I read by this author so far were both really good and this one is a friend to lover romance too, which is one of my favorite tropes. Compelled by the Vampire I got for review. I really enjoyed this author’s mermaid series, so I was compelled to give this one a try too even tough I am not a big vampire fan. The set-up does sound interesting and it’s been a while since I read a vampire book so I hope this one’s good.

Which series are you currently watching? Or what’s the last movie you’ve seen?

I hope your headaches are getting better. I totally understand. It’s rough for me to sleep when it’s too warm in the house too. Hugs…RO

  2. Oh cool! I love your discussion posts. Yes, the heat has been insane and so hard to sleep in. I got too hot one day and joined you with a headache.

We’ve been watching Pinkertons as our TV show. It’s like a light historical cozy mystery. Fun that your latest book in the HY Hanna series came out.

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • Thanks! I am glad to hear that. I hope to make time to the discussion posts more often. The heat only seems to make the headaches worse.

Oh that sounds fun. I’ll have to look that up, we watched a few cozy mystery movies and they can be really fun. The latest HY Hanna book was great 🙂

    • I can see why it caught your eye when you like vampire reads so much :). I really enjoyed the other books by this author that I read so far, so I hope this one’s good too.

  3. Sorry to hear about the headache – it doesn’t help when the nights are so hot, although you might not be experiencing the heatwave we are currently having… And having to do more assistant work doesn’t help.

As for TV watching, I haven’t been watching much recently other than Wimbledon as I love lawn tennis. But my sister bought me the Gavin and Stacey boxed set and when life calms down a tad, I’m going to treat myself to a major binge-watch. I hope you have a great week – preferably with no more headaches!

    • It sure feels like a heatwave to me, although I am not sure if that’s what they’re officially calling it. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same heatwave you’re having. I was actually quite happy with the extra assistant work, although it can be hard to focus at times when it’s so warm.

That sounds fun you’ve been watching Wimbledon. I am not really a sports watcher, but if you enjoy the sport, such events like that sound great. I hope you have time for that binge watch soon.

  4. Yay discussion post! You might be nervous, but I’m excited! Glad you also got some gaming in and that at least one of your reads was just right for your mood 🙂 And ooh a vampire book! I normally read lots of books about vampires, but this year I feel like I’ve hardly read any. Idk what’s going on, but I miss my vampire books! I’ll be sure to read your review for that one in case it’s a good one XD

    • I haven’t done a discussion post in so long, so not I am suddenly nervous whether people will like it or think it’s stupid. Which is weird as I used to discussion posts every week and then it was so normal I never worried.

It’s great when you find a read that’s just right for your mood. And that was the book I didn’t start the week before last one because I wans’t in the mood for it. So I am glad I waited with reading it, so I could read it now when I was in the mood for it.

Now that you mention it, I can’t remember seeing you review many vampire books this year so far. I hope this vampire read is a good one, I enjoy the author’s writing style, so I hope this book is a good too.

  5. I hope your headaches have gone away and that you are feeling better. Yay for a discussion post! I can’t wait to read it. I hardly ever write discussions but I always love reading them. Bonbons and broomsticks looks so interesting. I’m glad it was the kind of read you were looking for.

    • I used to do a lot of discussion posts, but nowadays rarely make the time tow rite them. So it was great to get suddenly hit with inspiration and actually write one. i always enjoy reading discussion posts too. I really enjoy HY Hanna’s cozy mystery series and Bonbons and Broomsticks was such a great read.

  6. We’re still watching Death in Paradise here and I think we’re going to start watching the Great British Baking Show on Netflix. We watched an episode at my parents’ house and really enjoyed it. Sounds like you’re ready to get back into discussion posts! I’m looking forward to whatever it is!

    • I remember you doing a post on your blog about that show. I have heard of the Great British Baking Show, but haven’t watched it myself.

I am hoping I can try and make time to write a discussion post now and then as I like writing them. They just take so much time to write tough.

    • Same here. I still have a list of ideas lying around somewhere, I just need to make the time to actually write them. I know most people usually enjoy the, but I havent’t posted one in so long I felt a bit nervous about it.

    • I actually do like writing them I just have a hard time finding enough time or motivation to actually write them. They are also fun to read 🙂
