sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty good week. There was a cover reveal I organized that took place this week and a new review opportunity that got booked which will probably be live next week. I am finishing up the assistant work for my authors for this month and got a good amount of hours done for that this week.

Another author contacted me this week regarding some assistant work. So now I have another author I’ll work for. It seems my work focus this year is shifting toward assistant work instead of tours. I am actually happy with my new balance so far with the main focus on assistant work and still some tours as well. I do plan to keep organizing tours, just less than I used to and maybe more picky with which books I accept.

And I finished my green and white puzzle winter puzzle. It was a bit more difficult than most puzzles I usually do, but it was satisfying to finish it. I now started a colorful puzzle that depicts some stereotypical dutch scene.

I also have this weird reading mood where I don’t know what to read an all the books I want to read are ARC’s I should receive soon-ish or books that aren’t released yet, which isn’t helping. I had a row of 3 star reads on my ipad, they were still pretty good reads for the most parts, but I am just not finding the right book to read. I did pick up a book I recently bought now and so far it’s good so I hope it helps me out of this weird reading mood. On my Kobo I am reading the third Imprints book by Teyla Branton and I am really enjoying it! It’s such a good series, so at least my weird reading mood didn’t seem to transfer there.

What did I read this week?

The Right MoveThe FachanLegacy

I finished The Right Move, The Fachan and Legacy this week. All were 3 stars. Still pretty good reads for the most parts. The Right Move was well written, but I couldn’t connect to the characters and didn’t feel the romance. The Fachan was pretty good, but because of the short length of these novella’s I find it hard to really get into the story. the Legacy was a good start to the series with an unique set-up, but I am not feeling the romance yet and for some reason had some trouble getting pulled into the story.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

This week I blogged about:

Review: Cookie Dough, Snow and wands Aglow by Erin Johnson
Review: Priestess awakened by Lidiya Foxglove
Lola’s Kitchen: Chocolate Cookies with Cinnamon Recipe

    • It was quite easy to fall into the new balance, but it’s pretty different from last year.

Sorry to hear you’re also in a weird reading mood. I hope you get out of it soon. I think/ hope my weird reading mood is almost over now.

  1. Seriously need to do a puzzle, every time I read your post about the puzzle makes me want to do one not sure we can with kittens but might be a fun summer project at the shore house.

I am glad you are getting assistant work. I am feeling very creative lately and want to explore more design ideas. Just need to get together what I plan.

My reading has been super weird this year. I am in such a genre change mood. I can’t seem to even read anything I used to like. Might take advantage of my KU since it’s a great way to see what I am into.

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading

    • I am really enjoying puzzling at the moment. I seem to go through these periods of time when I do a lot of puzzles and then take a break form it for a while again. I hope you get the chance to do a puzzle soon.

I have a lot of different authors now and it’s fun how they all need different work and write different books, so there’s a lot of variety in the work.

That’s exciting you’re having lots of design ideas! I am so excited to see how my new design is coming along 🙂

I hope I can get out of this weird reading mood soon as I cna’t figure out what I really want to read. It’s not like the books I read are bad, but they just arne’t gripping me as mcuh as I want. I just bought a new book today and am still waiting to see if I get an ARC for a book, i should now that within a few days. So either of those will probably be my next read.

  2. That’s great that your author assistant work is picking up and you’re able to start being choosier about tours that grab your interest more. Woohoo on finishing your puzzle.

The reading mood when it gets that way about being bored with almost anything you ‘have to’ read and only wants what isn’t on the shelf is so annoying. I have that happen now and then with my reading list. I put books on in the order I receive them for review, or if I can, by close to release date, but then my mood wants the book that isn’t releasing for another three months. LOL

    Have a good week, Lola!

    • I now have 6 different authors I work for, which is great. And I still do tours, but I have to worry less when it’s slow and be a bit more pickier.

It was great to finish that puzzle and the current one I’m working on is a bit easier again.

I ended up doing a genre switch and I am hoping this will help. I have a lot of books that are being released this month that I really want to read and nothing I have is really feeling like the right book. I also try to read the books in time for release day, but I am less picky about the order if I can still manage to read all of them in time. But I know that tricky feeling when you want to read the book that isn’t releasing for three months, when you have books that have closer release dates.

    • I was happy to have another author to work for now and that my new work balance is working well.

It’s really frustrating as only books that arne’t released yet seem to catch my eye. Although I picked a different genre book which seems to help a bit. So I hope this will solve my weird reading mod.

    • I am really happy with the new work balance. And I hope I get out of the weird reading mood soon, but I think I am slowly get out of it again.

  3. Your business seems to be going from strength to strength and I can see why:). As for your reading mood – novellas are always tricky, I find, because unless the writer is very technically good, the pacing is often not quite right. I hope you find a book that you can fall in love with – maybe change up your genre for a while… Have a great week, Lola:)

    • Thanks! I am happy with the way my business is going.

I agree novellas are always tricky and there are few writers who can handle them really well. I did change up my genre which seems to help, even tough it’s not a book I love, I do have the feeling it will do the trick of lifting my weird reading mood.

    • The assistant work and tour works is definitely keeping me busy. And that really is the hardest part of starting a tour business, getting bloggers and authors to sign-up.

  4. Sounds like a pretty chill week! I’m glad you have a nice balance going between assistant work and then your blog tour work as well. It’s nice to have a variety of things to work on! I’ve been thinking about getting out another puzzle for me and the kids to work on. I think after the cleaning ladies are here on Wednesday, I’ll get one out and get started.

    • The current balance between assistant work and tour work seems to work well for me. and I like having a variety of tasks to work on :).

I really like puzzling, it’s so relaxing. Did you start a puzzle on Wednesday like you were planning to?

  5. I’ve recently finished up to book 5 on the Four Horsemen series. All of them were 3 stars for me but they’re oddly addictive. I think it’s the way they all roll into one another that makes it hard to stop reading even when there are frustrations.
    Happy reading!
