sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Just like last week this week was busy. It was a bit less busy than last week, so it got a bit more manageable level. Again some new tours went live this week and I worked on another tour which will go live next week. It’s been a good few weeks and I a happy with all the extra work I had. I managed to get some reading and gaming time as well. I a reading two great mysteries at the time and while I am making progress slowly I am really enjoying both of them and I got a new game that I am really enjoying.

Besides that there isn’t really much to tell about this week, I didn’t make any time for baking and actually make a pie from a package so I did have something yummy to eat, but it didn’t take as much time to make. I did manage to write an extra Lola’s Advice post and am hoping I can get some Lola’s Kitchen and Lola’s Ramblings posts written next week. I have made pictures for two more recipes where I still need to write the post.

And my keyboard is having some trouble. First with som keys not working, but a good cleaning with a toothpick and vacuum cleaner seemed to have fixed most of that. And now my spacebar is getting stuck sometimes, although it did seem to do a bit better after I removed the key, cleaned it and put it back in. So let’s hope it will recover. I hate switching to a new keyboard as no other keyboard seems right, either the keys look weird or are set just a bit differently as on this one or they make too much sound, I just want to keep this one. I hate change in general, so that probably has to do something with it as well.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Vega paté
It’s always fun to try out new vegatarian product when I have the chance. With vegetarian meat substitution I’ve always find it’s a bit of a hit or miss. Some products I love and others are just meh. Over the years I’ve been a vegetarian the assortment of vegetarian products has grown and the quality as well, although I am still not trying those vegetarian stuff that tastes like real meat. But I hadn’t seem this vega paté before and decided to give it a try and it was pretty good. Not a very strong flavour, but nice for a on cracker. Will buy this one again. And it has both iron and B12! Both are important for vegetarians, but most products only have one of these two.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

Format: e-copy
Source: bought with amazon gift card money
You can find Wild One on Goodreads

Blurb:
He’s a shifter gang leader. She’s a halfling on the run.
And the Wolf Hunter has just declared open season on them both.

Marco Wilding’s pack is being picked off, one by one. The Wolf Hunter’s mercenaries are snatching wolves off the street then dumping the tortured bodies inside Marco’s gang territory. When they go for a shifter kid, Marco’s patrol is on it – until a beautiful female wolf steps in and kicks the kidnapper’s ass. The delay saves the kid, but Marco can’t stop drooling over this brave, unmated female who mysteriously landed in his lap.

Only she wants nothing to do with him.

Julia Holloway’s life was finally turning around – she was getting her degree and getting out of her mother’s house with its parade of abusive step-fathers. Then her wolf went wild and ruined her life. Now she’s on the run, but her wolf is still out of control. When it once again tries to save someone, this time a kid who was being kidnapped, she gets an offer she can’t refuse –safe harbor inside a shifter gang while she gets her life back on track.

Only the hot shifter leader with the passionate eyes wants a mate… and wants her to stay.

As Julia and Marco race to stop the Wolf Hunter’s men, Julia will have to do more than just tame her wild wolf… she’ll have to decide whether giving up everything she wants will bring her the one thing she really needs.

WILD ONE is a complete novel with HEA, the fourth in the Wilding Pack Wolves series. All stories are standalone, but for maximum reader enjoyment, start with the River Pack Wolves trilogy. Contains scorching hot shifters, alpha heroes, and sexy halflings. Only readers over 18 should dive into the dangerously hot world of the Wilding Pack Wolves.

This whole series is on sale for only 0.99$ for a limited time in case anyone is interested.

I also got some freebies thanks to an author their newsletter, but didn’t want to go through them and list them all.

  1. Sounds like you had another busy week. With Easter coming up I plan to do some baking but not sure yet what to do. I’ve never made a pie before so maybe I’ll try that.

I hope you figure out your keyboard problem. I’ve been having problems with my mouse and it’s really frustrating when it doesn’t work right. I’ve been lazy to get a new one.

I hope you have a great week!

    • I love pies, but hate making them. I am trying to make more pies this year and it’s been working out well so far.

My keyboard seems to be doing a bit better since yesterday, so maybe it will work out on it’s own. I sure hope so as I don’t want to switch keyboards. It’s frustrating when it doesn’t work right, but getting a new one is annoying too.

  2. I just had to get a new keyboard for the house computer because my son spilled Chocolate Milk on it. Thankfully it isn’t a computer I use a lot and he had to use the keyboard from my ipad until the new one came in.

I have lots to do this week with Easter coming. I have to make some pies, I actually like making them but not a big fan of eating them 🙂

I think when my daughter gets older she is going to go vegetarian because she is such a picky eater and if you explain how the meat is made she looks like she is going to pass out. I would be happy to join her in that but I would need a serious amount of vitamins since I tend to have very low iron and my husband would have to cook by himself and he would hate that 🙂

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I am always very careful with my keyboard and try not to spill anything on it. Your poor keyboard and the chocolate milk.

You’re the opposite of me, I love pies, but hate making them. I wish you lived by closer and I could eat some of those pies you make.

I always have been a picky eater too and didn’t like most meat until one day I decided to stop eating it all together. There are lots of vegetarian products which contain iron and veggies. I get a blood tests every year or so and so far my iron has been good so far, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on that and make sure you’ll get enough iron.

  3. Holy moly, that’s a busy week! I have to click over to some of those recipes, they sound really good and I’m really starting to love trying new things. 🙂

I have to go check out Wild One, and the entire series–I love shifter romances!! Have a great week and happy reading!

    • I hope you’ll find some recipes you like. I also have a recipes page where I list all the the recipes I shared on my blog so far.

I haven’t read a good shifter romance in awhile, so I couldn’t resist grabbing the four books for 0.99$.

  4. Not all sure about that Veggie..lol You were busy this week Lola. Hopefully next week is a little more low key. My laptop is 2 years old and the E and I keys no longer have a letter..just circles. The A, N,S and D are on the way out! Have a great week!

    • The veggie thing was pretty good on crackers. I would buy it again. If it stays this level of busyness that’s good, but last week was a bit too much.

I also lost some letters, the e was the first to go as well and now the a and t are gone too and the f, w and r are it’s way out. And a few others are showing signs of wear too. Maybe I can finally learn blind typing this way, lol.

    • It sounds like a great series, so I was glad I could grab them while they were still cheap.

Nope, I wont give up yet. There’s still hope for my keyboard.

  5. It definitely sounds you had a busy week! Awesome that you have so many new tour going live. Very impressive 😉

I was a vegetarian for a view months a couple of years ago. I tried a vegetarian filet American ones.. It was horrible. Really disgusting. I still love those Vales things though.

Have a great week and Happy Reading! 😉

    • Thanks! It’s been fun working on all these new tours 🙂

I saw a vegetarian filet American in my grocery store last time, I did consider briefly whether to try it, but it looked unappetizing and I never liked real filet American either. There are some really good veggie products as well luckily.

  6. Sounds like you had a nice, productive week! Glad you were able to get some things finished but it wasn’t too overwhelming. This week I start a new job (I just work the first three days in the week) but it will be a bit odd getting used to a new routine. I’m so used to working nights a lot. haha

    • I like being busy, but the previous week was on that border of getting too busy, so it was nice things got a bit less busy this week.
Getting used to a new routine is always so difficult. I hope the transition goes well for you and you’ll like your new job.

  7. LOL about change, I know what you mean. I get used to a keyboard and then changing… no , not pretty. 🙂 Glad the tours are going well- and the mysteries too.

There are times when I think I could stick to a vegetarian lifestyle and then there’s times when I’m like, no that wouldn’t work lol. Are you still a vegetarian if you only slip occasionally? Just kidding but it would be hard for me to resist temptation. 🙂 I have a lot of respect for people who stick with it.
Greg recently posted…Sunday Post #134My Profile

    • I just hate change, I probably am a bit too change resistant. I am used to this keyboard and don’t want to get used to another one.

I think that for being a vegetarian is more about the overall mindset, if you slip now and then I think that’s okay. I am pretty strict when it comes to not eating meat, but with other things like something that’s in cheese and gelatin I am less strict. And if you follow the reasoning that I won’t eat anything for which an animal is killed, then I shouldn’t be able to eat those. But I take some leeway there. I also eat fish now and then, but very rarely.

I’ve even heard the concept of a part time vegetarian, where you eat vegetarian some days, but not others. I never really liked meat, so there’s hardly any temptation and they even made vegetarian sausage breads now, which was one of the few things I missed, lol. The vegetarian meat substitution products have come a long way since I first became a vegetarian years ago. Most of them taste pretty good and there’s way more variety.

    • I am glad to hear you’re the same. I know it’s just a keyboard, but with most of my work being behind a computer, a keyboard is very important to me, just like my computer and my monitor. I know how stressed I was when I had to get sued to a new computer screen last year when my previous one broke.

The veggie product was pretty good, not too strongly flavoured, but nice for one crackers or bread.

    • My keys are starting to fade too, but I don’t mind that as much, the sticking is annoying though. It does seem to be a bit better since yesterday, so hopefully the cleaning did help. And exactly getting used to how a new keyboard feels is so difficult. I hope you’ll find a fun tour to join :).

  8. New keyboards are always a pain because you get so used to the one you have, and there’s always some slight (or not so slight) difference when you switch. I actually adapt fairly easily to new keyboards, but some are still better than others.

Sounds like you’re pretty ahead on blog posts, which is great. I’m so behind right now -_- Looking forward to all your discussion and advice posts though! I always love the topics you come up with 🙂
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 3/20/16My Profile

    • Yes! A new keyboard is never 100% the same, the keys are just a bit different or father or closer from each other and then you keep hitting the wrong keys. I don’t adapt easily to new keyboards or new anything at all.

Thanks! It’s hard to come up with good topics sometimes, but working ahead helps me to put less pressure on myself and that makes me more creative. I managed to write a Lola’s Ramblings post today, so that’s nice. Hoping I can get two more written this week.

  9. For some reason I was craving pate terribly last week! I haven’t even thought about pate for probably a decade and I had to ask my husband to get it from the supermarket. And now you share about vegetarian pate!!! I this a sign??? LOL Now I feel I HAVE TO FIND IT and try it 🙂

OMG I get tired just reading everything you do, the cooking, the baking, the reading, all the posts you have ready for next week, the TOURS!!!

I would love to interview you and learn HOW ON EARTH your get so much done Lola!

    • It’s weird how you can crave something so suddenly. I hope you’ll get your pate! The vegetarian pate was pretty good, I would buy it again. Let’s hope they also sell it where you live.

Having no travel costs really spares a lot of time, so more time for cooking, blogging and work. I do have this technique to cook for two days, so at least I only have to cook once every two days, but I don’t mind cooking, I usually enjoy it.

Sure you can interview me! Sounds fun :).

Although I think my secret is that I am very disciplined and my mind works in strange ways. I like getting a lot done in a day and don’t need as many breaks. And working ahead, it makes me feel less stressed. Most of the posts for this week I’ve done weeks ago.

  10. I haven’t had a chance to do much baking in a while either, but I’ll probably make a carrot cake for Easter next weekend. I missed making a pie for Pi Day last week, though.

I hope the problems with your keyboard work out. It’s always a pain to get used to new equipment. But if you have to, I’m sure you’ll rise to the occasion!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm’s Hoard recently posted…Kindle Update — UrgentMy Profile

    • I hope I can get some baking done soon, but at least the pie from the package helped with the sweet cravings. I think my next baking will be another cheesecake, I made it a few weeks ago, but I want it again already.

It seems my keyboard is doing better, the spacebar only rarely get’s stuck, so who knows, I might have actually fixed it. Fingers crossed it stays this way, I don’t want to lose my keyboard yet.

  11. Yay for all the work that you keep getting and glad you’re able to keep up with it.

I had to clean my keyboard last week, too. Bleh! I use the compressed air, a toothpick and a little brush. I try to do it once a month so it doesn’t get bad, but sometimes I forget. And I’m not flexible about keyboards, either. For my desk top, I kept the same keyboard for over twenty years even if I had to replace the tower and monitor. I’m that way with most electronics and devices. I don’t replace until I have to.

Hmm, the pate’ looks like a good find. You’re right. There are definitely more options for vegetarian ready-made products at the grocery store. I didn’t bake, but once and it was simple chocolate chip cookies. Wasn’t in the mood to do more though I’ll do up some muffins tomorrow to go with my stew.

You’re new shifter romance book looks good. Hope you enjoy it.

    Have a good week!

    • Yes it’s a nice way to see how much tours I can put live in a week. So far I’ve been able to keep up with one new tour each day, but that’s my limit I think.

I usually only surface clean my keyboard, but I didn’t realize how much stuff had gotten below the keyboard. I’ll have to see if I can find some compressed air. I am the same, I don’t replace until I have to. I had to replace my computer a few years ago and my screen last year, so let’s hope I won’t have to replace anything anytime soon. I still have a spare mouse lying around in case my mouse fails.

Yes it was a nice find the pate, it was pretty good. It’s nice that there are more options now. Hmm chocolate chip cookies, I like those, but rarely make them.

I was in the mood for a fun shifter romance, so I hope I can start this series soon. Although I found out there’s another series I have to read before it, but I only have book one of that. But I guess I’ll start there as I prefer reading things in order.

  12. I hope you don’t need a new keyboard D: it’s always so weird to start with a new one. I’m so used to my laptop that when I go to work I don’t hit the keys correctly for the first hour or so lol they’re spaced so differently!

Good luck writing up your new posts 🙂

I think that pate looks pretty good and you’re so right, it’s amazing how many new products have appeared in the last five years or so when it comes to vegetarian and vegan diets. And gluten free too! I had to trial gluten free for 6 months at my doctor’s request a few years ago, and I had to drive out to a specialty store to get good crackers; now they’re at the supermarket! Of course…when I no longer need them haha

    • Yes working with a different keyboard than the one you’re used to always takes some getting used to. So far my keyboard seems to be doing okay, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Yes there’s so much more choice nowadays compared to a few years ago. And indeed gluten free too, I’ve been seeing more and more gluten free products as well. It’s handy they sell those things in normal supermarkets now.

  13. I love busy weeks as it makes the time go by nicely! And it sounds like you had plenty to do! That vegan pate looks interesting. I’m always looking for new things to spread on crackers that isn’t cheese. I really like olive tapenade too, but I can’t remember if you like olives or not. Anyway, I’m sure you have another busy week ahead of you! I hope it’s an easy one. 🙂
    S. J. Pajonas recently posted…Sunday Update – March 20, 2016My Profile

    • I agree the time always goes by nicely in those busy weeks.

Nope I don’t like olives, so no olive tapenades for me. I usually do cheese on crackers or pesto and cheese, that’s the extend of my crackers spread. This pate was a good one, I’ll plan to buy it more often.

Yes so far this one seems like another busy week, send out the media kits for the daydreamer detective tour today, put a new tour live, working on a new cover reveal sign-up post and wrote and schedule a review for next Saturday. Then tomorrow there’s a cover reveal that takes place. And I hope to get some blog posts written to stay ahead of schedule.
