sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

Another busy week, it’s becoming pretty much the norm now it seems. But I don’t mind as it’s busy in the good sense, with lots of work. A new cover reveal and blog tour went live for sign-up over at Lola’s Blog Tours. And I am so happy with the awesome banners Michelle from Because Reading is Better Than Real Life/ Limabean Designs did for my tours. I love them and I am so happy to have her as my banner maker! I am always looking forward to see how she designs the banner.

I saw this post on Bored Panda, it’s a dutch photographer who took pictures of the Netherlands. It gives you a bit of a feel what the country I live in looks like, although ofcourse the pictures do make it look more pretty than it actually is ;). But I thought it would be fun to share.

And a new shop opened in the small shopping center close by where we live. It’s been renovated lately and now and then a new shop opens there. Now we have a new ice cream store, that also sells coffee, tea, sandwiches and some other sweets. We visited last week and bought an ice cream, the ice cream was pretty good. It was fun to see the new store and I can imagine that once summer get’s here it will do pretty well.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Cocopops
I am one of those people who like my routines and my breakfast is always very routine like. I pick something and eat that for breakfast for years until I suddenly switch and then stick with the new breakfast for years again. For the past few years my breakfast has been cocopops and a cup of earl grey, I love the taste of them! What’s your breakfast and do you eat the same breakfast each morning or do you eat something different every day?

Lemon-bar-close-up
I made these lemon bars last weekend and will be doing a recipe post for them soon. They turned out very well, very lemony and sweet. I am trying out the recipe with oranges instead of lemons next week.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday: dinner at my boyfriend his parents
  • Monday: leftover dinner from the day before, pumpkin soup and pizza
  • Tuesday: Lasagna
  • Wednesday: leftover Lasagna
  • Extra: Apple Pie
  • Thursday: Cilantro stir fry
  • Friday: leftover Cilantro stir fry
  • Saturday: Spring Rolls

It turns out that Isadora has been keeping a surprising secret all these years. But someone else knows about Isadora s secret: someone who has sent her a threatening, frightening letter.
Could the attack on Professor Lowell have its roots in a 50-year-old murder? And who is targeting Isadora and the surviving members of the Oxford Six? Anna, Isadora and Tansy, the dogwalking detectives, make it their business to find out.

Blurb:
An all-new Popcorn Shop Mystery bursts on the scene, featuring gourmet popcorn entrepreneur Rebecca Anderson and her poodle Sprocket.

Opening a gourmet popcorn shop was never on Rebecca Anderson’s bucket list. But after a failed marriage to a celebrity chef, she’s ready for her life to open up and expand. She has returned to her hometown of Grand Lake, Ohio, with her popcorn-loving poodle Sprocket to start a new business—naturally called POPS. As a delicious bonus, Cordelia “Coco” Bittles, a close family friend who has always been like a grandmother to Rebecca, owns the chocolate shop next door, and the two are thinking of combining their businesses.

But when Coco’s niece, Alice, discovers her on the floor of her chocolate shop, those dreams go up in smoke. The local sheriff thinks Coco was the victim of a robbery gone wrong, but Rebecca isn’t so sure. As suspects start popping up all over, Rebecca is determined to turn up the heat and bring the killer to justice in a jiffy!

Also the cover is really pretty in real life and it almost looks like it is drawn by hand with pencils.

Her pack is being hunted. He’s a bodyguard with a secret. The Wolf Hunter is targeting them both.
GAME ON.
Owen Harding hasn’t shifted since he was in Agent Smith’s experimental cages—the only thing this ex-Army Texas boy is afraid of is what kind of beast he’s become. But with a hate group issuing more threats against the Wilding pack than you can shake a stick at, Owen’s doing what he can as a personal bodyguard. If only the Wilding girl he’s tasked with keeping alive wasn’t so damn sexy… and completely off limits.

Nova Wilding’s father was assassinated, leaving her a gaming company to run, a new game to release, and a pack full of wolves who want her for a mate… including a beta who’s determined to have Nova and her company. Choosing someone outside the pack will tear it apart, but Nova can’t stop watching the hot shifter who’s keeping watch over her.

When Nova barely escapes an attempt on her life, she finds herself in Owen’s arms… but her sexy new bodyguard is absolutely the wrong man at the wrong time. While Nova fights to keep her father’s business afloat, and Owen fights to keep her alive, the Wolf Hunter is playing a dangerous new game that might destroy them both.

WILD GAME is a complete novel with HEA, the first in the Wilding Pack Wolves series. All stories are standalone, but for maximum reader enjoyment, start with the River Pack Wolves trilogy.

Contains scorching hot shifters, alpha military heroes, and sexy female gamers. Only readers over 18 should dive into the dangerously hot world of the Wilding Pack Wolves.

The first 3 books in this series were 0.99$ for a limited time and it sounds like a fun series and I had some amazon gift card money left, so I couldn’t resist grabbing these.

Emily Jones is the lead programmer for WildLove, the new app that hooks up shifters and humans for a night of hot sex and no commitments. Only she hasn’t had a date herself in years… ever since that dark day when her family didn’t protect her when she needed them most. She figures one magical night with a hot wolf will help her finally move on with her life.

    • I am the opposite, I am always hungry when I get out of bed and have to eat else things go bad. So eating breakfast is usually one of the first things I do in the morning.

    • That’s a fun idea to mix multiple cereals. I just love cocopops too much to mix ti with anything else. I also like eggs as breakfast, but I am usually too lazy to make them in the morning, so I just go with my standard option.
I recently heard about Alisa Woods books and she has multiple shifter series. This series should be read after another one, I bought the first book in that series weeks ago. But I couldn’t resist the 0.99$ sale on this one, especially as it sounds like a good series!

  1. I have to mix it up with my meals, breakfast varies egg muffins, breakfast quesadillas, etc, although this week it will probably be oatmeal. Great haul! Several look very good.

    • I am not sure why, but I can’t stand to vary my breakfast. I guess I don’t like making decisions in the morning and just pick whatever I always eat, it’s easy ;).

Muffins as breakfast always sound weird to me as it’s uncommon here, but I do want to try it once.

I was really happy with this week’s haul, all of them look great!

    • I can’t stand coffee, so it’s tea for me and I need some food in the morning as I always wake up hungry. Eating what’s in the fridge sounds like a good option, although what happens if there is nothing in the fridge? And every combination works if you’re hungry and lazy, lol.

    • I have to eat in the morning as else it goes bad for me and I get very light headed and feel weak when I don’t have breakfast. I almost fainted the one time I tried it. So I always start my day with breakfast and need a plan of what to eat as I can’t decide when I am hungry ;).
A glass of juice and fruit sounds like a good start of the day. And I know some people aren’t hungry in the morning, so I can’t relate, but I’ve met enough people like that too. It seems people are either hungry in the morning or not at all.

    • I have to eat breakfast every morning as I am always hungry in the morning and feel weak and light headed if I don’t eat. And nowadays it’s just part of my routine.

  2. I usually have yogurt for breakfast and two cups of coffee. I am not a big breakfast eater. I like lunch better 🙂 We have something similar to CocoPops here I think they are called Coco Krispies or something like that.

I love doing the banners! I am glad you like them!

Those lemon bars looks good, if only I liked lemon. Would be curious to see how the orange comes out.

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • It seems I am in the minority by being a breakfast eater. Caffeine is a good start of the day, most people agree on that ;). I think they have Kellogg’s almost everywhere, although I guess it makes sense they change the exact name.

Thanks so much for the awesome banners, it’s always so exciting what you make of them. And I love the designs you did so far! I just heard another author is booking a tour, so I’ll have a new banner request for you tomorrow probably 🙂

I hope the orange ones work out, although it’s tricky as orange tastes less strongly than lemon so you need to add more of them and hope it’s enough. I once switched a lemon cookies recipe to oranges and it didn’t work out as well. But I am determined to try making orange bars 🙂

  3. Beautiful pics! I love the one with the windmill in a line and the colored buildings as well- kinda wish we did that here. I live not too far from Holland a town in Michigan and there’s a lot of Dutch ancestry here so it’s nice to see these. Holland has a lot of stuff like windmills and a Tulip Festival that’s a big draw every year.

Coco Pops haven’t seen those in a while. They look kinda yummy actually… I usually have toast or an English muffin with peanut butter for breakfast, lately. 🙂
Greg recently posted…Sunday Post #132My Profile

    • The photographer definitely took some awesome pictures and makes the country look more beautiful than normal, but we do have quite some windmills around here and it’s flat, really flat.
I didn’t realize you had a town called Holland there, it must be fun to see some of the dutch things there.

I like cocopops, they are really good. Muffins are rare here for breakfast, but I’ll have to give it a try once!

    • The concept of a popcorn shop sounds so fun! I hope I can read it soon. And the lemon bars were really good, I hope I can try out the orange variation this week.

Cocopops are really good! I love them for breakfast, sweet and filling!

  4. Being good-busy is definitely better than being bored! I feel like I’ve been busier lately too, and I’m worried that I’m gonna end up exhausted, but at the same time it’s also felt good. Like, I think I was in a slump before, and now I suddenly have more drive and more outlets to put my energy into.

I feel like I always pictures the Netherlands as being kind of pretty, but WOW! Even if those photos are heavily edited, they are still absolutely GORGEOUS. Thanks for sharing!

As for breakfast, I don’t eat it. I know, I know, most important meal of the day and all that. But I’ve never been a breakfast person. I’m just not a morning person in general, so my body just can’t deal with food until it’s properly woken up. If I have to eat for some reason, like I’m working out in the morning, I eat fruit or pick up a smoothie from a nearby place 🙂
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 3/6/16My Profile

    • Indeed sometimes it feels like I should get exhausted, but as long as I have enough time to relax I can handle the busy weeks just fine so far :).

It definitely doesn’t look as pretty as in the pictures, but it does give a good feel of how our country looks like and how flat it is. Pictures like that always make me see how there’s beauty here too.

I am not a morning person either, but I need breakfast as soon as I am awake. Not sure why, but my body won’t wake up without food.

    • The Cocopops are so good, I love them! I guess I should’ve realized it would’ve been called differently there. It probably makes sense to slightly rename the product in other countries. Cocoa Krispies actually sounds like a better name.
I know what you mean, sometimes the busier I am the more effective I work and the more I get done. The lemon bars were really good!

  5. I eat the same breakfast everyday unless it’s the weekend: peanut butter on toast and a veggie sausage. It works well for me and I’m never tired of it. I think I’ve been eating it for breakfast for 8 years now! I love all those pictures of the Netherlands. I love your country! I’ve been there once and it was a lovely experience. The Dutch strike me as awesome, laid-back people. I would love to live there someday. 🙂
    S. J. Pajonas recently posted…Sunday Update – March 6, 2016My Profile

    • Ah finally someone who also eats the same breakfast everyday :). I also never tire of cocopops. Your breakfast sounds good too, when I first became a vegetarian I loathed the veggie sausages, but they’ve gotten better over the year and I have a few ones I really like now.
I still think it’s great you actually visited the Netherlands once. You probably would like it here, less snow ;). Although when it snows it’s one big panic. I actually would love to move out of this country one day, I guess we always want what we don’t have. Although I’ve also come to appreciate the Netherlands a bit more lately. And pictures like that definitely make me realize there is beauty here too.
