sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was a pretty busy week. On monday a cover reveal I organized with Lola’s Blog Tours took place and my second Lola’s Advice post went live. I fit in a lot of hours for marketing assistant work this week and got a nice chunk done. I am hoping to finish up the rest of the marketing assistant work next week as the week after that I have 5 cover reveals lined up. I got a new cover reveal open for sign-up this week for Saven Disclosure, the sequel to Saven Deception and it’s such a great cover, I am looking forward to sharing it with everyone.

I also attempted to bake a pie this week, will share a picture next week. Not sure if it’s a succes yet, as at the moment I am writing this post, it’s still cooling down, so I can’t finish and taste it yet. It’s a bannanofee pie and it sounds delicious 🙂

Oh and remember how I mentioned that we cleaned out the rat food and put up a notice at our local supermarket that anyone who wanted it could get the remaining rat food for free? Well someone responded this week and she took the rat food that was still good with her for her own rats. I hope her rats will be happy with the food.

Already finished my first two reads for this challenge: Tea with Milk and Murder by H.Y. Hanna and Amanda Lester and the Purple Rainbow Puzzle and both were four star reads.

Random Picture(s) of the Week

Chinese-Tomato-Soup
This is my favourite storebought soup. I don’t make soup often myself, I usually prefer to buy a package from the supermarket and it’s so handy for those evenign where I don’t feel like cooking or want a filling late night snack. This soup is suited for vegetarians, is filled with veggies and tastes delicious. I buy soem storebought frnech bread to go with it and have a delicious dinner. What’s your favourite soup?

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday: Lemon Risotto with spinach and red bell pepper
  • Extra: Lemon Cinnamon Cookies
  • Monday: Sauerkraut casserole
  • Tuesday: leftover Sauerkraut casserole
  • Wednesday: Dal Dhokli
  • Thursday: leftover Dal Dhokli
  • Friday: storebought chine tomato soup with frnech bread
  • Saturday: Swarma for my boyfriend and vegetarian meat for me with baked red bell pepper and spanish garlic sauce

Blurb:
What does a dusty old secret have to do with peacocks?

Everything, as it turns out. When Amanda is knocked off her skateboard by a rare all-blue peacock, she learns that the species harbors a vital secret she must race to uncover. But before she can unravel the mystery, a startling archaeological discovery turns all of Britain against the detectives and threatens their very existence.

As old enemies gather strength and new adversaries emerge, Amanda finds herself dealing with hysterical teachers, a disappearing mentor, a mysterious poisoner, and a would-be magician. With so much at stake and so little time, the last thing she needs is to fall in love.

I am currently reading the third book and I was excited to see the fourth book pop up on netgalley, even though I read the rest of the books in paperback, I couldn’t resist requesting this book as I really enjoy this series. Actually the whole series is on netgalley! If you’re looking for a fun MG mystery series I would recommend this series. Here’s the link to the first book on netgalley.

You can find April on Goodreads

Blurb:
Baseball, beer, and a hot boy. Nothing can beat that. Until I meet Mason “Mace” Murphy the next “it” pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and my client. He’s immature, arrogant, sexy as sin, and the last man that’s going to get into my panties. He’s not used to hearing the word no from women, so I’m going to spell it out for him.

N = Not going to happen.

O = Out of your league buddy.

I was hired to cuddle up to the annoying, beautiful athlete, and give prospective advertisers and fans a different view of this hot-shot professional baller.

Only he’s everything I detest in a man all wrapped into a dream package. Baseball player, talented, athletic body, sculpted face, and ass you can bounce quarters off of. Unfortunately, he also believes he’s God’s gift to women, a man-whore, throws money around like it grows on trees, and conceited. The challenge for him, to break down my defenses and get in there. My challenge, avoid hopping in the sack with him at all costs.

    • It was a nice and busy week. I hope I can read some of these new books soon! April is next on my to-read list for when I finish my current ipad read.

  1. Hmm the Calendar Girl books sound interesting, might have to think about reading those myself 🙂

My favourite soup is pumpkin soup, made with butternut pumpkin (or squash, depending where you’re from!) it’s really easy to make – cutting up the pumpkin is the most time consuming part (and that always takes ages).

I hope you enjoy your new books 🙂

    • I’ve read the first 3 books of the calendar Girl series so far and am really enjoying the series so far.

I also like pumpkin soup, my boyfriend his parents sometimes make it when we visit and it’s so good. I made it myself once and I agree the cutting the pumpkin takes the most time.

  2. Sounds like you had a good week. I’m glad you were able to find someone to take your rat food instead of just throwing it out. I’m not a big soup eater, when I do, it is more stew. I like it thick, like chili or beef and veggie stew are really the only two I like. I don’t think I like broth unless I’m really sick, then I’ll eat it. Glad you had a great week.

    • I was really happy we foudn someone who wanted to take the last of the rat food and I didn’t have to throw that out as well.

I am not a big soup eater either, but I really like this one. My boyfriend realy liked soup of all kinds, also the broth. But when I eat soup it’s usually this chinese tomato soup for dinner or noodle soup for lunch or late night snack, I like that too once in awhile. And indeed when I am sick I might drink some broth.

    • Yes I was happy someone responded who wnated the rat good, I don’t like throwing stuff out.

I am really in a cozy mood lately and I’ve got some really good sounding ones lined up to read this month.

    • I don’t think I have had Lipton Noodle Soup before. But I do like noodle soup in general, I usually buy packages of noodles in an asian supermarket and then eat them as noodle soup instead.

  3. Awesome busy week you had! I am looking forward to seeing what you thought of the pie you made, I don’t make a lot of pies only my Easter pies and Egg nog Pie.

Really should try a cozy might look for one on Kindle Unlimited just incase I don’t like it.

Have a great week, Lola! Happy Reading! ox

    • I don’t make a lot of pies either, but I do like them, so that’s why my goal was to make more of them. The pie turned out well, but it wans’t fully to my taste. So I also made an apple pie this week, which was perfect, yum!

I hope you give a cozy a try, it’s a great genre! It’s a good idea to try one with KU if you can.

  4. Aww, that’s nice that you gave away the rat food. It must’ve been hard, but at least it’s not going to waste.

Sounds like the cover reveals are going well 🙂

Did you try the pie yet? How is it? I’ve never made a pie in my life. It seems complicated, and I’m just not a huge pie person in general, so it wouldn’t be worth the effort to me. Though I do like apple pie.
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight recently posted…The Weekly Update: 2/7/16My Profile

    • Indeed! We already had to throw out soem rat food as it wans’t good anymore, but at least we could make someone else their rats happy with the rat food that was still good.

Yes I am happy the cover reveals are going well. I got agreat testimonial today from an author who’s cover reveal I organized. They are fun to organize.

Yes I tried the pie, it was a bit meh yesterday, but a bit better today. I did like it, but probably wouldn’t make it again. I hate making pies as they always fail and they are so much effort, but my goal is to make 6 pies this year as I do like eating them, so we’ll see if I make that. I probably will give apple pie a try next time as that one is easy and yummy!

  5. Glad to hear someone was able to take the rat food for their own rats. I found a lady on FB that took my big rat cage and some of the toys and then found another guy who was getting 2 rats for his teenage daughter and he got the smaller cage which was still pretty big, and all the rest of the supplies I had.

It’s been a while since I tried to make a pie. Hope it came out good.

    • We did keep the rat cage and other accessories in case we want to take more rats in the future, but we’re not sure we will yet. I am glad someone wanted the rat food.

The pie was okay, I always have a bit of trouble making pie. This one turned out good, but it wasn’t 100% to my taste.

  6. I’m starting my book for Getting Cozy today, hopefully I can get some reading in. Fun event. You are off to a good start. 🙂 Gad the blog tours are going well.

I like soup and crusty bread, that’s always a winner. 🙂

Great post on exposure this week…

    • Yes I was glad to get two books read so far, I am hoping to keep this up and read 1 -2 books for the challenge each week. I hope you’ll enjoy your book for the cozy challenge!

I love soup with bread, without bread the soup someone doesn’t seem complete.

I am glad you enjoyed the post about exposure! I wanted to write about the topic for a while now and am happy I could share it as part of my new feature :).

    • That’s what caught my attention, I haven’t seen any cozies with horses yet and I enjoy learning more about topics I know little about in books.

I think the Book Tour book is mostly aimed at authors, but as I organize blog tours I am curious what’s in it and who knows maybe there are some tips I can use too.

And it made me happy we could pass the rat food on to someone else 🙂

    • I love learning about new topics/ hobbies and job I know little about and I’ve never seen a cozy about horses before, so it was an insta request.

I am hoping to keep it up and read two mysteries a week. I just started my third book for the challenge!

  7. Sounds like a great week for you. Busy, busy!

That’s great that you had a taker for the rat food. Better that felt better than throwing it away.

I saw that Amanda Lester up on Net Galley and wondered if you’d snag it. 🙂 I have tried not to look at the offerings so I can get caught up, but that one was on the main page of new offerings at the time and the gorgeous cover caught my eye.

I make a few soups, but don’t mind several store-bought varieties either. My favorite is either tomato (with grilled cheese sandwich) or Clam Chowder (with crusty French bread).

    Have a good week!

    • It felt better to be able to give the rat food to someone else than have to throw it away. I really should do the same and stay away from netgalley and get caught up first. But I still check the recent additions every day and some books I just have to request, like the Amanda Lester book and Reining in Murder. I love a good tomato soup and this chinese tomato soup has a great taste and lots of veggies.

  8. I’m glad you had a productive week, Lola. And yay for giving your rat food to a good home. 🙂 I’m sure that was a good feeling, as was getting so much done. I like being able to stay busy. That soup looks yummy…I like having soup during the winter months. Although it’s really good anytime. *ha* I see that you have another Calendar Girl on your list. I hope you continue to enjoy the series. Have a great week, Lola!

    • It made me happy to be able to give the rat food away to someone who could use it and she just had rat that had a surgery so the baby food I had left over came in handy for her too.
I agree soup is always good I like to eat this every week or once every two weeks on fridays so I don’t have to cook that day.
The calendar girl series is great so far. The first three books were really good! I hope the rest of the series stays this good.

    • It hasn’t been that cold here, but still good weather for soup with french bread. The pie turned out okay, not fully my taste, but I did ate a few pieces.

  9. It is always good to have busy weeks!! Glad to see you got someone to get the food that was leftover from your rats. I love soup though…I normally just buy it my favorite is just vegetable or tomato basil. But I have been wanting to start making my own soup from scratch.

    • Yes it was nice to find someone who could use the rat food. I have tried a few soups from scratch, but for sme reason it’s not my favourtie thigns to cook and I rather just buy the storebought variety.

    • The pie turned out well, it just wasn’t fully to my taste. I did enjoy it though and it did look nice, so that’s a good thing as I usually suck at making pies and I made two in a week, so that’s a new record.

    • Yes it was nice we found someone who wanted the rat food :). I am usually not much of a soup eater, but I can eat this soup every week, it’s so good!

    • It’s nice to know other rats can enjoy the food now and it didn’t go to waste. I haven’t made a lot of soups yet and usually don’t like making them, not sure why. Maybe I should make them more often.

  10. Red Iza

Good for the rat food, better share than throw away 🙂 You had a busy week indeed ! I like to cook my own soups, but sometimes, I buy packages too for when I’m lazy – or the train is late (again). I thought about you sunday, I cooked a curry with spinach and chick peas, but I guess chick peas can be replaced with lentils or something like that. It was creamy and very good. I had cooked your korma recipe during the week (boyfriend loved it), I guess I was in the mood for Indian last week 🙂 “April” looks like a very fun read, I’ll be happy to hear what you think of it !

    • Yes it was nice to give the rat food away rather than throw it out. For some reason soups are one of those thigns I don’t make from scratch often.

Oh yum, that sounds like a good curry! I think it’s fun curries make you think of me ;). And I am so glad you tried out the korma and it turned out well :).

The calendar girl series is fun so far!

    • Oh exciting! I can’t wait till the arc’s go out and I can finally read it :).

I was happy to be able to give the rat food to another rat owner, she seemed happy with the rat food.
