sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

What happened this week?

This was still a bit of a difficult week and it had some bad moments, but also some good ones. Still struggling a bit with losing Pita, soem tiems it just suddnely hits me that she is gone. I did start work on two new tours, which is fun. They are both live already.

Smarties is recovering pretty wel, although one day she had scratched around her wound and a bit pus came out, so we cleaned it very well and it looks better again. Most days we let her sit on the couch with Snickers so they could have social time and some days they can spend hours just snuggling next to each other in an empty tissue box. They are adorable. Saturday we put Smarties back into the cage and they spent the whole day close to each other, I think they are both happy to be back in the same cage again. This also shows how important it is to have at least two rats as human contact can’t replace contact with another rat.

On Tuesday my sister dropped the news that she might be moving out in April if all goes well, as she will be hiring a appartment with her boyfriend. Which is good news and I am happy for her, but less good for our still precarious money situation. So my boyfriend and spent some time going over financial issues, we can both put in some extra money so we can stil pay all the expenses, but it’s going to be hard for a few months probably, nothing new there. My mom also put some pressure on us as she still helps us paying the rent.

And I donated two Lola’s Blog Tours services to a charity auction. I will be able to tell you more soon, but I am really excited about this. When I got the e-mail I only stare at it for a few seconds thinking I had nothing to offer and then realizing I could offer something namely my tours. It for a great goal and I am happy I can be part of this awesome event.

I finished reading Lion’s Share and finished beta reading a novella. Then I read Rice Cooker Revenge by SJ Pajonas and it was such a fun short story! My review will be posted next week. I am now reading another beta read and then it’s back to review books. I got a few short stories read, so that does mean I have some reviews scheduled in advance. Although the week after this might be a bit bare with not as many reviews. I also worked on some future Lola’s Ramblings post and am two months ahead again, which makes me happy as I feel better knowing that I am ahead. I also scheduled a new Lola’s Kitchen post for my brownies recipe. I have one more Lola’s Kitchen post to write, I already made the pictures, only have to write the post now and schedule it.
I am contemplating whether to participate in next months My To-Be Read List as my reading schedule for next month is pretty full with some deadline review books to read, I’ll see whether I can fit in another book or not. And I still haen’t read my Reading Assignment book for this month and I don’t think I can read it for the end of the month, but who knows.

What did I cook for dinner this week?

  • Sunday: Indian Cauliflower Mash
  • Monday: Pizza! It was storebrought, but really good, I hadn’t had pizza in a long time!
  • Tuesday: Risottto with paprika corn, coriander and ginger
  • Wednesday: Indian Briyami
  • Extra: Apple Crumble
  • Thursday: Vegetarian Handi Recipe
  • Friday: Korma
  • Extra: Brownies – recipe post coming in June

Snickers eating some cooked egg. They love egg and as this has been a hard few weeks for the rats as well, so Smarties and Snickers got some egg. You can see Smarties her tail, she hid behind one of the pillows on the couch and didn’t want her picture taken.

Never judge a dragon
by her human cover…

Sixteen-year-old Kitty Lung has everyone convinced she’s a normal teen—not a secret government operative, not the one charged with protecting the president’s son, and certainly not a were-dragon. The only one she trusts with the truth is her best friend—and secret crush—the über-hot Bulisani Mathe.

Then a junior operative breaks Rule Number One by changing into his dragon form in public—on Kitty’s watch—and suddenly, the world knows. About dragons. About the Draconic Intelligence Command (DIC) Kitty works for. About Kitty herself.

Now the government is hunting down and incarcerating dragons to stop a public panic, and a new shape-shifting enemy has kidnapped the president’s son. Kitty and Bulisani are the last free dragons, wanted by both their allies and their enemies. If they can’t rescue the president’s son and liberate their fellow dragons before getting caught themselves, dragons might never live free again.

*** Part 1 of a 3 part serial ***

Cory James has never known a life where she wasn’t running. Running from the cops, her home, her past. Running from love. The only time she’s free is when she throws on her hood and takes to the roofs to become a part of New York, to climb to a place in the city where she doesn’t feel alone.

Stealing is nothing, lying inevitable, byproducts of survival. A way for Cory to provide for herself and for her younger sister, Jill, give her the life Cory couldn’t have. For five years, Cory set up a long line of teetering dominos, one by one, choice by choice.

Meeting Van is the first domino to fall, and once they crash into each other, it’s only a matter of time before her whole world is in danger of falling apart. She can tell herself over and again that she doesn’t care, but it’s a lie. She knows it from the first time she says his name, but she can’t let him in, not when she has a job to do, a job that could rip her life apart at the seams. One that she’ll have to betray Van to finish.

He’ll follow however high she can climb, but she can only run for so long before she has to choose.

  1. Thank you so much for donating to the auction! I’m really excited by it and it’s so good to see everyone chipping in to help! Thanks also for rewding Rice Cooker Revenge amongst all your deadline reads. I know how busy you are 🙂

It’s good to see Smarties is doing well and back in the cage! And what a stressful situation with rent and everything. Big hugs. Looking forward to the brownie recipe!

    • I am looking forward to hear more about the auction and will do what I can to help spread the word. I accepted a bit too many deadline books recently, my own fault, but it will be a crazy few weeks. I am happy I fit Rice Cooker Revenge in as I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the next short story.

It will be another hard year when it comes to rent, but after that it hopefuly get easier. My boyfriend has one year of uni left and hopefully I keep doing better with Lola’s Blog Tours and then we can finally pay the rent ourselves.

    • I am excited to see how the rest of the auction will go. I am sorry my posts leave you feeling hungry, I hope you can grab somethgin to eat!

  2. Smarties looks good ! “Rice cooker revenge” ?! What a fun title ! Donating your tours was such a nice move, and I’m looking forward to more excellent recipes – your idea of posting your menu plan afterward is a clever one, I might do that someday. Have a great week, Lola, I hope the money issues won’t worry you too much 😉

    • It was such a fun short story as well, it made me happy and put a smile on my face. For some reason I find posting my menu plan afterwards more logical then beforehand as then things might still change. I already am worried about the money issues a lot this week, so next week will probably be back to normal. It’s always when things change the issue is on my mind for a while and then I realize I am already doing everything I can and I am able to focus on my work again.

    • A blogging friend of mine kept recommending the Hardcore series and it sounded like something I would enjoy, so when it was free I had to snatch my copy.

    • I am glad I could do something to help as I don’t have much money, but I am glad I could help in this way.

And that’s exactly what we’re thinking. It’s a good thing for us that she’s moving out as they has been some strain lately, but the extra financial burden is hard. I think it will work out, but it’s going to be a tough few months.

  3. Oh Lola! I am so sorry about Pita, I didn’t know 🙁 My heartbreaks for you my friend, you are such a good mommy to those babies, Pita was so very lucky to have you. I am really so sorry *HUGS*

I think financial problems is going around, my husband and I are in a tight spot and hoping to fix it soon however I am nervous about it because I is a risk that could make it worse but at some point things need to get better, I have faith they will and I know you will be fine just a little bump in the road for you all. Have faith it will pass quickly!

So glad you got Hardcore! I hope you love it! I thought the entire series was just great.

Have a great week, Lola! *HUGS* again!

    • It’s been hard losing her and there are so many things that still remind us of her, she was a great rat and we deeply mis her.

I am sorry to hear you are in a tight spot and I am wondering what you are going to do to attempt to fix it.
We’ve had financial problems ever since we live here, basically my mom had to move to the other side of the country, but my sister, my boyfriend and I had to stay here because of their studies. So my mom made sure we had a house here, but as Lola’s Blog Tours doesn’t make nearly enough and both my sister and boyfriend are still studying money has been tight. It probably will for another year until my boyfriend garduates and get’s a job. I am almost used to it, but during weeks like this it really hits me and I feel so bad, until I can get my worrying back to a normal level.

I am hoping to read Hardcore soon as I can’t wait to read it after you kept mentioning what a great series it is! Thanks for the hugs and for stopping by!

    • It’s more like I donated two tours to the auction and then peopel can auction for it I think and I organize the tour for them while all the money goes to the charity. If I understand it all correctly, this is my first time doing something like this, so I am really curious to see how it all works.

    • That’s why I mentioned it here as well, for those who missed last week’s post. It’s so hard to losea pet, we have this hammock weused to call Pita’s Hammock and I get sad every time I place it into the cage, even though the other girl now sit in it, it will always be Pita’s Hammock.
Luckily Smarties seems to be doing okay, although we still have to be a bit carefull when picking her up as her belly still isn’t completely healed.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about Pita, Lola 🙁 I haven’t been around much lately, so I hadn’t realized.

Hopefully, you’ll be able to manage the rent even without your sister living with you! I know it can be really hard when money is tight, but think positive, work hard, and then good things will happen.

I love the haul you got this week, I didn’t know S J had a new book out, not sure if it’s for me, though, if there are several shortstories involved.

Have a fantastic week and happy reading Lola.

    • We miss her a lot :(, it’s hard to lose a pet.

We probably will manage the rent, but it’s going to be hard money wise for a while longer.

It’s a series of short stories, but every short story does have a clear ending as far as I understand and the short stories have a common topic namely about appliances and such that have a personality, I really enjoyed Rice Cooker Revenge!

  5. I’m glad Snickers is doing better, Lola. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that she continues doing better and that things smooth out for you and your boyfriend financially. I remember treading some rough waters when I was your age. 🙂 That is great news about the auction! I hope you’re having a great week!

    • Smarties and Snickers are both doing pretty well. We keep a close eye on Smarties her wound and hope it keeps recovering well.

The financial struggles are really hard sometimes. We manage, but still need financial aid of others and I hope that in a few years that isn’t necessary anymore as I feel bad about being dependent on others for their money. It’s just a hard situation for a while longer.

I am glad I could donate something to the auction and I hope it brings some extra exposure to my company.
