My Review:
I pre-ordered Iced, but actually didn’t got around to read it until now. I also was a bit hesitant to start because I was afraid it wouldn’t be as good as the first 5 books of this series. After finishing this book I can say that there is no reason to not read this, it is just as good as the first 5 books and I was happy to be back in the world of Fever for a while. I am already looking forward to the next book.

The story picks up almost right after where Shadowfever ended. Only now Mac isn’t the narrator, but Dani. And there are some new problems that needs to be solved, the most prominently being Dublin slowly turning to ice. As soon as I started reading Iced I felt like I was back in the Fever world, the writing style is the same and it still has the Fever feeling that no other book can compare to. I really enjoyed the story, although there was one tiny part of the plot that I didn’t like. Also there were a few similarities to Darkfever, luckily there are also enough differences.

This story is mostly told from Dani’s point of view, but there are some parts of chapters that are narrated by different person. I did like seeing the different point of view, although it did bother me that there was no clear indication when a part was told by a different pov. Surprisingly in the first few sentences it is always made clear who’s pov it was, so it isn’t confusing, but I still would’ve preferred some clearer means of letting the reader know who’s pov it is.

I did like Dani in the first 5 Fever series book, although I couldn’t imagine how a whole book from her point of view would be. Throughout this book I really started to like Dani. She has such an original view of the world and I like how she thinks. This may also be in part of how different she is to me, she is so full of action, living life to the fullest and always looking forward to the next adventure. I think Dani is a great character and I can’t wait to read more books from her point of view. I wasn’t disappointed at all and actually was surprised how much I liked her.

There are also some new characters introduced and a few old characters about who we get much more information. Dani’s story is really different from Mac’s story and also the characters they interact with differ. I especially liked reading more about Christian, his story was really interesting. And I liked getting to know Dancer, he is such an awesome character. Also Ryodan really gets some character in this book, while in the books from Mac’s pov I never got a good sense of who he is, we do get to know him much better in this book. He did remind me on some points of Barrons, but he also is really different and has some unique personality quirks.

Iced takes place in the same world of the Fever series, so we do know already much about the world that doesn’t need explaining in this book. There are some new problems, which get new explanations and there especially is more attention for how Dublin is dealing now in the aftermath of all that happened in the books before this. So there isn’t much new world building, but I liked how it builds on what we already know of the world and expanded it bit by bit.

To conclude: Iced is just as good as the first 5 books of the Fever series. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down. I started to really like Dani, she really is awesome and I liked reading from her point of view. There are a few new characters in this book, but mostly we get to see more of some characters that took a lesser role in the first 5 books. Iced is definitely a must read for fans of the Fever series and I can’t wait to read more about Dani and her adventures.
