It’s not a wedding in Provence unless the party is crashed by ghosts.Weddings are a recipe for disaster, and my sister’s upcoming nuptials in Provence to the man who betrayed me are no exception. But I’m here to play nice. After all, my own love life is a mess, torn as I am between Gaspar, my charming ghost boyfriend, and Sébastien, the reclusive ghost whisperer I can’t seem to resist.
As if that’s not bad enough, I run into Nostradamus. Yes, the Nostradamus, infamous doom prophet of the Middle Ages, and he’s got a prophecy for me. Lucky me. Turns out, not everyone invited the wedding will be leaving it alive.
Urban Fantasy with a French twist. If you like cave-crawling adventures, hopeless romantics, and ghosts, you’ll enjoy Ghosts of the Provence, the fifth book of the Parisian Ghosts series. Travel to Provence, for some spooky action by the sea.
My Review
I’ve been feeling the urge to get back to this series and decided to pick up book 5. I am so glad I did as I had a great time reading this one. It was so much fun to be be back reading about Alix, her friends and her ghost whispering adventures. It was such an exciting read and this book had a lot going on. Gasper is back and he’s struggling with some things, Alix has a new ghost to help out, her sister’s wedding coming up, GoPol still isn’t happy with Alix and Alix is struggling with her feelings for both Sébastian and Gasper.
This one seemed at first like it would have more leisurely vibe with the visit to the Provence, but it had a lot going on and kept me reading. The change in scenery was fun and I like spending some time in the Provence. I wanted to know what was going on with Gasper and started having my theories about that especially with a certain reveal later on, but I think we won’t find out till the next book. There are some surprising twists and turns and the plot did go into some directions I hadn’t expected. There are some darker moments that hit quite hard toward the end and I can’t wait to see how Alix deals with it all in the future books. This series is just so good and I like reading about the characters and all the events that happen.
I really felt for Alix in this book as she has a lot to deal with. Gasper is back and she’s so happy about that, but something has changed with him (I am trying to avoid spoilers as this was such a big one) and that is troubling for them both. She also has developed feelings for Sébastian and isn’t sure how to handle it all. I am curious to see if she’ll get a relationship with both of them. Then she has her difficult relationship with her sister, but she’s trying to be supportive as her sister is getting married, but that’s tough with how sister treats her. I really like Alix as a character and especially how she handles being a ghost whisperer and sees the ghosts as real people. One of the things I really liked in this book was seeing how she’s there for Dix. As well as the ghosts she helps in the Provence.
The ghost Alix is helping in this book are two friends who lost contact and one of them wants to reconcile. I really liked seeing how this all played out. I think these are all historical figures, but I wasn’t familiar with them, so I enjoyed learning their history and the way the author decided to portray them. I really liked how this got resolved which was nice and lighter when the rest of the plot took a darker turn toward the end.
To summarize: This book was so good. It kept me reading and I wanted to know how all the various plot and character related plot lines would play out. Alix has a lot to deal with in this book and I felt bad for her with how much she has to deal with. I really like Alix and how she treats the ghosts, there are some great scenes with her helping ghosts in this one and being there for Dix. I liked how the ghosts she’s helping plot line got resolved in this one. The other plot lines take a turn for the dark with some surprising twists and turns at the end and it has me eager to see how this will impact things in future books.

I’m so glad your return to the series went so well. Love the ghost connection and the further development of the characters and relationships.
