Ethan (Brightest Kind of Darkness #0.5)
by P.T. Michelle

I got a copy for review from the author

Blurb from Goodreads: Ethan Harris never thought monsters and darkness would consume his daily thoughts, but every night the same visions repeat in his dreams. He’s careful to project a semblance of normalcy, keeping the suffocating darkness locked inside. As much as he wishes he could focus on girls, sports, and cars like other seventeen-year-olds; nothing distracts him from his own demons or shines through.

Until Nara Collins crosses his path. The blonde fascinates and intrigues him, giving him a measure of peace he’s never felt before.

When Ethan discovers there’s more to Nara than she allows others to see, that she might have a unique secret of her own, suddenly his world comes into focus.

Note: Ethan is a novella PREQUEL to Brightest Kind of Darkness. This story will give some of Ethan’s background and lead up until the day he tells Nara there’s a bomb in the school.

This is the first short story review on my blog. I always have difficulties reviewing short stories. As far as review weaknesses go reviewing short stories would be mine. I think it’s difficult to adequately review them because they are so short, but they are long enough to warrant a review. So every time I write a short story I try to write a good review and every time I realize how difficult reviewing short stories is.

My review:
As far as short stories and prequels go this one is really good. I liked getting to see things from Ethans perspective and get an idea how he lived before he met Nara. Although I think some things could’ve done with a little bit more explanation. I really liked reading how Ethan first met Nara and how he saw her before they even talked with each other.

I think this short story is a nice addition to the series. It isn’t nessecary to read to understand the story, but it does give you a better understanding of Ethan and how his live was before he met Nara.

To conclude: a really nice short story that gives the read a better sense of who Ethan is and how he was before he met Nara. I liked seeing things from his perspective. I can’t wait to read more about Nara and Ethan.
