MyTBRList

My To-Be Read List is a meme hosted by Because Reading is Better Than Real Life where at the beginning of the month visitors can choose which book I’ll be reading this month. On the first saturday of a month the poll will be up, then on the second saturday of the month I’ll announce the book that won and on the last saturday of the month I’ll post my review of the book.

This month there was a clear winner, although there was a second book with lots of votes as well. The winner is True Colors by Melissa Pearl! Come back on 27 June for my review of this book.
Here are the amount of votes the books had: Simply Irresistible got 7 votes (35%), The Year We Fell Down got 2 votes (10%) and True Colors got 11 votes (55%). Thanks everyone for voting!

Blurb:
Caitlyn Davis always cruised through life, not being the type to ruffle feathers or involve herself in high school drama. That is, until a chance encounter with a strange, homeless man changes everything.

Suddenly, Caitlyn has the ability to see behind people’s masks. She discovers that her life isn’t as simple as she imagined and high school is filled with secrets…some very sinister ones.

Unable to ignore her new gift, Caitlyn embarks on a mission to learn why one of her friends suddenly appears terrified, but masks her fear with a bright, smiling veneer. Will Caitlyn’s new ability lead her into hot water? Or is her new found vision a blessing that will expose her friends’ true colors?

Her quest will lead Caitlyn to lose friends, stand up for those in need, and even find love.

At Palisades High School every face tells a story…

  1. Fun! That was a close one. I had it once when I thought a book would tie, but fortunately I had a last minute voter to break the tie. Enjoy this one. It looks good.

    • True Colors was at the top the whole time, I think it’s because of the pretty cover. I am looking forward to readign this one as I’ve owned it for quite some time now.

    • I agree the author has a pretty cool name. And the cover is half the reason I had to buy this book, it’s so pretty and the blurb sounds promising.

    • I guess I should’ve picked another contemporary romance for it to be more of an equal battle. I think this mostly won because the cover.

        • But people who hadn’t heard of any of those books probably would vote for the True Colors one, most of the votes for the other books (based on the comments) where of people who had read them or knew the author.

    • I agree the cover is really pretty and that’s probably the reason why it won as well. I am looking forward to reading it!

    • Indeed, that’s what I am really hoping for as well. It sounds and looks good, so I am really hoping the book is good as well.

  2. Yay!!! That’s the one I picked! I’m almost certain I own it (too lazy to check at the moment) so I’m super excited to see what you think!

    • I think it was free on amazon a while back as I also have it on my kindle, but probably will be reading it on my Kobo. I am really looking forward to finally readign this book :).

  3. Hmm, I might have voted for Simply Irresistible but I have True Colors on my kindle and I adore Melissa Pearl so I’m eager to see your thoughts. I hope you love it, Lola!

    • I started this yesterday evening and so far I am really enjoying it. It’s really good and I am looking forward to read more!

    • The things I like most about this meme is hearing why other bloggers are excited for the books listed. I usually end up wanting to read all three of the books. I am hoping to finish True Colors this evening and so far it’s really good!
