The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
What happened this week?
Another intense and stressful week. We didn’t manage to capture the mouse and after one very restless night of sleep we put tinfoil in front of our bedroom door so the mouse couldn’t easily get in and were finally able to sleep. After that the mouse seemed to have found it’s way outside and we haven’t seen it since. Our current theory is that this mouse had a near miss with the kill traps earlier in it’s life as it started acting really freaked out once we placed those.
We hired a pest control who came by to inspect everything and he said the mouse could get in from this cupboard all Dutch houses have where water, gas and electricity enters our house. We can apply a strip against droughts to the bottom of that door, which should keep the mouse out. So we’re going to try that, but for now again added some tinfoil as that will make it harder for it to get in at least. The strip against droughts has been ordered and should arrive next week. After that we started cleaning the house as well. There’s so much cleaning to do and this has been such a stressful thing to deal with. We also moved some stuff we had in cardboard boxes to plastic boxes.
We got some more news about my mom’s health. The cancer they won’t be able to cure, but they will try and prolong her life and she will get more chemo. So I am hoping that will give her more time at least. She got her first chemo treatment this week and wasn’t feeling too well after that.
Then I still had a dentist appointment on Friday, which went well enough, no cavities, but I had a different dentist than usual. The dental hygienist as this place is very nice and is used to working with kids and neurodivergent people, which is nice. And still managed to get some work done for the author I work for as she had a new release this week.
I hope things go back to normal next week, but we’ll probably be busy with cleaning for a while longer. I tried an adjusted version of a recipe for a soup that I thought would work well for my gut and it did, so that was nice to find another dish I can eat without symptoms.

Urg! I HATE rodents and mice always leave such a mess – everything they touch has to be thrown out as they are so dirty. So you have my profound sympathy. Hope the new anti-mouse strip keeps it out and that the coming week is a MUCH better one.
Indeed, they cause such a mess. So much cleaning and even some throwing out as it seems the mouse got everywhere. So far no signs of the mouse anymore and I hope it stays that way.
I hope the mouse is gone. It’s not fun and unnerves me too. Glad you found another food which works for you.

I hope the mouse is gone, it’s so stressful dealing with it. Having another dish I can eat was a pleasant surprise.
That would be really great if the mouse is gone. Glad the pest control expert could give you a good tip and peace of mind. Hopefully, the clean out will go swiftly.
I’m sorry to see your mom’s cancer can’t be eliminated, but glad they could give her some extra time to be with family and set affairs in order. Poor thing with the chemo. My friend is finishing up her last treatment and it really makes her sick.
Trust this week will be better, Lola!
I hope the mouse is gone and we won’t see it again. I am glad we got some good advice and now it’s just cleaning everything and making sure there are no holes for the mouse to slip through anymore. My mom has responded well to the chemo so far and didn’t get too sick so far, but this latest one had her feeling not so well.
I am so sorry to hear about your mother, but I’m glad they’ll be able to prolong her life as long as possible. Glad you’ve ordered the strip to prevent the mouse — but sorry you’re having to deal with all that on top of your mother’s illness. It’s a lot of stress to deal with 🙁
It sure is a lot of stress to deal with. I am glad they can still prolong my mom’s life, but it’s sad realizing they can’t cure it. I hope the strip will arrive soon and prevent the mouse from entering, the tin foil seems to work for now, but I would like a more sturdy and permanent solution.
Ugh, mice can be difficult. I hope things go well with your mother and that this week isn’t too stressful for you.
Thanks! It has been a really tough situation with the mouse and gettign it resolved and now all the cleaning. My mom has not been feeling well after her first chemo sadly.
I’m glad the mouse got out. I would have been laying cookies out for him like I did for the ones in the maintenance shed. LOL I’m a sucker for rodents.
I hope the course of treatment will give your mom more time.
I love rodents too, but I don’t want them in my house and possibly making us sick. I hope the treatment will give my mom more time too.
I know I have mice in my attic and I just want to call an exterminator, because even though everyone says to just put traps down, I feel I need to do something more. And like you I worry about the diseases they can bring too. I hope that the treatments for your mom give you more time and that she will be comfortable and able to enjoy that time with you. Sorry I’m late getting by to see how your week went. I’ll be back tomorrow for the update of the past week.
I think calling an exterminator sounds like a good idea. The traps didn’t work at all here and the exterminator could quite quickly identify where the mouse was coming in and seeing things we hadn’t even realized. I really hope my mom will get some more time and also that she will be comfortable for that time as she has been struggling this past week.
